Hi!
I wanted to hear your guys' opinions on the GT75 vs the AW 17.
I'm thinking about getting the GT75 with the GTX 1070 and 8850h or the AW 17 with the GTX 1070 and 8750h.
I will be ordering from HIDevolution with their repaste service and thermal pads.
My two biggest concerns are stable temperatures and acceptable fan noise.
I heard that the speakers on the MSI are the best, but the AW still great.
Are the speakers/fans on both of these machines good enough so that gaming out loud is possible without noise being a nuisance?
I really enjoy gaming out loud, I would prefer not to use headphones.
Also, from my research, the MSI should run quite cooler than the AW.
Thanks for your time and I await your response!

Hello Stephan,
I've had the opportunity to use both models over the past few months.
Good choice on going with HIDEvolution. With the repaste option, both laptops will have good, stable temperatures. The GT75 will run a few degrees cooler, while the Alienware will have a quieter fan noise.
Both machines get loud, and at louder volumes I found the Alienware had cleaner sound. At moderate volumes both machines sound great, but at the highest volume the GT75 gets somewhat muddy and warbled.
Gaming using the laptop speakers is very possible on both units. Personally, I noticed the fan noise more on the GT75. While the Alienware still had audible fans, they sound more like background noise than a part of the sound coming from the machine.
I cast my vote solely based on fan noise. -

The Alienware I tested had the same specifications with a 120hz QHD display, and the GT75 was very similar--the one I tried just had the i7-8750H processor. It had the 120hz 1080p display. I haven't placed an order with HIDevolution yet, the model that suits my needs is on pre-order so I am looking at others, but I have spoken with Donald over the phone and he's great.

P.S. Donald is great. I have spoken much with him! -
Hmm. I think the 1070 at 1440p will provide great framerates well above 60fps for a few more years. That's my opinion from seeing games coming out last year/this year. I have not tried downscaling on the Alienware, however. Not a problem, happy to help.
Yes, Donald knows what he's talking about. -
The Alienware has, by far, better speakers when both are tuned correctly, if you decide on the Aw I can give you a profile to make it sound godly. I've heard both in person. Both of them use the same audio software (Nahimic), Alienware just brands it.
