    Does anyone know if this is possible to do? It seems like the r2 17 was a terribly unfulfilled model with neither having 120hz or 4k options.

    You need to source the screenlid as well. Mounting holes are different for the 4K panels. Also you need to source the bezel and 40pin display cable. The 30pin is used in your machine now.
