Well, we basically already covered that in your other thread just a day or two ago. Same basic issue here:
Alienware 18 2013 or Alienware 15 early 2015?
Alienware 15 and 17 R2/R3 are basically the same thing, just the 15 is smaller on the outside. The internals are the same parts... both are BGA garbage. Forget about any Alienware machine newer than the Alienware 18 or 17 R1 because everything after that is BGA and compromised all the way around.
You already have the newest "good" Alienware product available right now in the Alienware 18. Anything newer than that is going to offer much less performance, less quality, and be less configurable than what you have right now. There is no point in exploring other options within the Alienware brand if you want the newest product that is worth having. The 2013 AW18 and AW17 (R1) were the last machines they offered with sockets and slots.
That sounds like a really amazing trade for your friend and a really horrible deal for you. -
Greatly prefer my 17r2 to my 18, which I use more as a museum piece than anything.

I mainly love the fact that it is so lightweight and has such a slim profile. I can fit it in my bag easily and when it needs to be docked I have a Titan X ready and waiting from it which makes it nearly indistinguishable from a desktop experience, the only downside being that it doesn't have G-sync but we can't have everything.

Thank you all so much for the replies, am sticking with my beast. Because size and weight doesn't matters to me. As I rarely bring it out.
