Is there any chances of Alienware with 3d gaming enabled? I mean not on external display,

Probably in the future, especially since Asus is going to be doing it in their competitive models. But whether or not intergrated 3D will be available in the next revision is unknown.

I don't know if it IS a good thing. As with the PS3, to get 3D gaming they've had to lower the graphics so that 3D works properly (something along those lines).

Alienware screens are one of the better ones around for laptop's you'll see, so if they've have to lower quality.. I don't think I want to have that. Plus those stupid glasses...

However, if they can get it in without lowering quality of the screen itself and what is shown on it, I think I might look at it. For now though I don't believe they will be doing it.

    Hi Zaidbaby

Currently ATI still does not have official stereoscopic 3D support on their own. They can use a univiversal driver but they still don't have good support for for active shutter glasses, and 3D is not supported on DirectX 10, or Dx 11

DX 11 does give 2D images somewhat of a 3D look with tessellation. Here is a an article on the subject of 3D.

i prefer passive 3d to active shutter. until they make shutter lenses both cheaper and much more durable (almost broke samsung's ones just putting them on)

@FalconMachV - Nvidia is used in Alienware's, and with the possible GTX 480m being used in future Alienware products, its not an impossible propsition for Alienware + 3D.

Brother i have doubt that DX 11 don't support 3d, Nvidia's 480 supports 3D gaming and is for DX 11.

the article is saying that iZ3D and DDD drivers lack 3d support for DX10 or DX11. Unfortunately they are the only 3D offers currently with ATI cards. Shutter glasses are possible with ATI cards.... just no one has developed them yet and ATI does not seem interested in developing their own(I dont know why since it would probably be a cash cow for them)

    EDIT:
The article is dated. Their latest driver does have DX10 support

iZ3D also has a new monitor comming out by the end of the year

It will be a 27" display with 16:9 aspect ratio
FullHD full resolution in 3D (fullHD per eye)
It will probably have a 2ms response time (not sure)
The front panel will have sub-pixel precision (the current 22" front panel only has single pixel precision)
The monitor will support some sort of single cable connection (we don't know whether it will be DVI dual link or Display Port or Hdmi1.4)
The monitor will have HDCP support (mandatory for BluRay3D)
Ghosting wise, the iZ3D team says that the monitor "has passed the ghosting test", whatever that means (no ghosting or ghosting similar to other 3D displays ?)
It will use circular polarisation (compatibility with the RealD cinema 3D glasses)
iZ3D is partnering with Gunnar optics to provide very high quality circular polarized glasses with the monitor.

There is no official ETA for the monitor but we expect it to be released by the end of the year.

Yep I definitely agree it is overrated. Once 3D is real meaning holographic 3D is here then it won't be overrated but until then... The 3D which uses glasses or which just makes your eyes cross sided.

We should leave it to Nintendo to dabble with 3D gaming long enough to fail miserably--which shouldn't be long--so we know what NOT to do. *cough* Wii-mote *cough*
