Finally took the big step and ordered my new Alienware Area 51m from HIDevolution. Sales team was a dream to work with, though I admit I'm a pretty easy customer to work with (if I do say so myself). Ted and Donald were great and timely in responses.
I'll attempt to keep this thread updated through the order and shipping process. If I get the opportunity I will record, or at the least take pictures of the unboxing for any potential buyers of this Alienware model.
I REALLY like the chassis for this model and the thermals seem like they won't be as much of a problem as my current rig (+90* <20 min into gaming sessions). The only sacrifice I've seemingly made in my choice here has been the mechanical keyboard. I had really been eyeing the Eluktronics (TongFang) with the mechanical keyboard but I wanted a better cpu, bigger screen, better thermals, and Thunderbolt port. The Area 51m's keyboard doesn't seem bad in any sense, but I've had trouble with my current rig's keyboard due to high thermals causing sticky keys (most notably the W key, very important in gaming!).
If price had mattered more to me I would have made the sacrifice but I wanted a real high class gaming laptop experience this time around, paired with an unexpected bonus at work, allowed me to splurge for this rig.
