Here is my review of my distasteful experiences with Alienware Australia.
I find Alienware Australia sales ethic are below par compared to the rest of the world.
They are trying to profit from old system such as older m17x sold as new and charging more than their counter part that are now (for the past few months) have been selling new m17x with new design.
I personally think Alienware USA should really look deeply at what their Australian Alienware is trying to archieve here.
You can buy directly from Dell if you want the new generation design m17x from Alienware if you feel you can't benifit from Alienware Australia. How could you they are trying to profit from you by selling you the older m17x with older casing design for more than the price you could get directly from Dell which are selling new generation new design m17x.
If you want m17x buy from Dell directly check out www.dell.com or www.dell.com.au and check out www.alienware.co.uk or www.alienware.com for latest new generation m17x.
Do no buy from www.alienware.com.au they have below par business ethics and always trying te profit from older system. They even refuse to sell you the next generation m17x.
Conclusion buy from Australia Alienware and you will always get older system that costs more than the price of new System from Del or USA/UK Alienware.

Buy from Dell direct or UK/USA Alienware you will get new system for less than the costs of Alienware Australia.

Doesn't this just leave a bitter sour tastes in your mouth if you are looking to purchase M17X ?
It's not just the laptop either, Alienware Australia also practise this with their Desktop System aswell.
IF memory serves me right i remembered they sold heaps of desktops with nvidia mother boards coupled with crossfire ati video cards which we all know nvidia will not support ati crossfire. They are reports of this all over youtube site and google search.
I for one will avoid Alienware Australia at all costs.
Hope this review will help others from making same mistakes as others have found.
I ordered mine today from www.dell.com.au because i could get a new generation m17x for less than the price of older m17x sold at www.aliewnare.com.au which by the way Alienware Australia refuses to sell to you because they want to make huge profit from selling a price dropped m17x.

those 2 pictures you linked have nothing to do with what you are saying......they are the M17 and the M17x (new one) and mention nothing about price and had no dishonest or misleading information in the text.....
-
What Scook said, those images can be found on the uk and us sites. One is for the M17x and the other one is for the m17.
I think you are probably confusing the versions. Its three laptops the m17x (older), M17x (newest) and the m17. -
The M17 is not the old m17x...
Both systems are sold on both Alienware UK and US. -

It sounds like he is either confused or just really doesn't like dell/AW in Australia
-
well..just popped my 1st post cherry!
i believe Benson here is correct...sort of.
Alienware Australia are currently advertising the m17 as "NEW" to their line of laptops. The m17x doen't even appear on their website, and can only be found on Dell Australia's website.
im guessing that is what was meant by old and new. I came across the same comment on youtube earlier today. Unless theres a new sorta version of
m17x that has come out which has had something updated? -
you got the m17 and m17x confused m17 is the crossfire version, and m17x is the newest version. they brand m17 new because they got the 4850 video cards in for crossfire.
-
If you look at the australian AW site ,they don't offer the m17x only the m17 advertised as "NEW".
trickery marketing on their part or maybe they just dont update their site.
-
whoa what happend to m17x in au
-
hehe like i said, its not on the AW website, but it CAN be found on dell australia's website..not sure why though.
my guess is that they're just getting rid of m17 stock -
yah i totally agree.
did u end up buying the m17x from dell australia?
if so, how was the overall experience and are you satisfied with the product?
im thinking of getting one, but i am slightly put off by the whole AW Aus thing. -
I think its because Alienware Australia hasnt merged with Dell Australia so not everything is up to date.
All in all, Australia is always behind technology and we pay top dollar for technology thats not even up to date.
I remember the XPS 1530 w/ a 8600m GT was about twice as much as US prices and this was when it was nearly phased out too. -
actually i found the current m17x dell Aus price to be same as AW US. did a comparison yesterday..and that didnt include intl shipping charges, etc.
but i know what you mean. the prices are still higher, and to be honest, the technology should probably be a little further ahead than what it is today. -
Sort of OT but I live in France at the moment and found that I could buy an M17x AND fly back to the States for 2 weeks for about the same price/hassle of ordering one in France. $600 round trip flight $2300 M17x vs nearly a $4000 M17x here.
Maybe you should plan a vacation to the States. -
keep at it. i have pretty high confidence in dell. we have 3 atm. a fourth died 2 weeks ago, which i had for 10years, WITHOUT the need for replacing parts..worked amazingly well! have faith imo!
despite all this, im still keen on buying an m17x from dell. -
If you want a computer in a week go to Harvey Norman.
Mine took a month which is fair enough for a custom laptop in my eyes.
If weight/size is really going to concern you I would say cancel your order, this computer is not for everyday carrying.
I had no issues otherwise with Dell's service. -
Oh and RAID 1 256G SS Harddrives for $1800 when you didn't know what RAID1 was.
I'm not quite sure what to make off you Desiree. -
play nice people ... some people can't build it but they still want to play games
-
if you build it, they will come!
to be honest i barely know a thing about computers..although i imagine if you ask for all the highest upgrades, u'll have a damn fine computer!?lol -
not from AW they charge out the butt for desktop systems i can build what he bought for under 2k EASY
-
No point wasting money the stuffs to hard to come by for me anyway. -
true that. i guess it comes down to what u want in a computer, how fast you want it and how much cash you are willing to splurge.
-
yea
some people rely on others and can't do it them self
thats not bad @ all though. Every one needs help with something
I think i need to open my own computer building service -
id buy from u moo!
no srsly i would!
maybe
-
lordqarlyn Global Biz Consultant
-
could Moo be the next AW???
i can see it now..........MOOBIENWARE! -
lol actually the name Noobieware would sell well
-
i would buy a customized computer made by mooware.
-
Desiree...watched your youtube and all i can say is, dayum...It is inconcievable that an electronics company should let someone with the resources to have the latest and greatest electronics to go wanting. I think some of the problem lies with AW customer service but most lies with your mouth as pretty as it is.
-
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Snap!
-
The fact that you pay super duper high premium for useless upgrades, so they figure you know nothing about computer, especially you are a girl and a hot one too, they would just go all the way to rip you off.
Next time, when you buy stuff, pretend you don't have much money.
Choose top components that you can't upgrade by yourself like graphic cards, and choose low end components that you can throw away, ie. ram, and buy the upgrade elsewhere for 1/3 of the price. -
I have 2 4870's in crossfire in my desktop pc, I hit 20k easy.
Even with 1 4870 at stock u should be hitting 15 16 k.
So yes something really wrong there. -
-
Wrong cards and crossfire incompatible motherboard.
The guy who put that together must have been very bad with computers or drunk.
But in all seriousness if she did not get what she payed for I would demand a new system. -
Couldn't they fix it (if they were so inclined) by swapping out the ATI cards for Nvidia? That mobo can handle 3 gtx 285's I think.
-
I've re-read her post, I think she has dual 4870x2 so that would be quadfire.
So in all fairness if they want to correct the issue they should send 2
295gtx's, Since two 280's sli would be about as fast as a single 4870x2.
I sure wouldn't want her electric bill -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
in all fairness, HP did get an nvidia chipset to work with crossfire in the Blackbird 002. Something about communication between the pci-e busses that can be done in the BIOS
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
dam, sorry to hear they are giving you such a hard time
-
are you sure you don't smoke crack?
seriously if you paid that much money for a computer, then why sit there and allow them to get away with it.
take it to the department of fair trading(nsw) or whatever state you are in, and challenge the whole thing!if im not mistaken, it wont even cost you to have the government investigate... -
not speaking english wont work, trust me when i say the department has an abundance of translators at their disposal
