If you haven't already, check out Alienware's Back to School offers ( here) and if you need to convince Mom and Dad to get you one for Freshman year, download their Alienware Advisor PDF ( here)

They offer Quickship systems on the m9750 & m17x laptops and Area 51 desktop (with Free Shipping) as well as 3 'School Bundles': Mobility, Blogger & Media bundles :)

    enJOY !!
    L8rs all

Ps. Why no Quickship systems for the m15x Alienware ? ;)

    Those deals suck, as usual...

I wish I was going into college, but I still have a few more years to go ;).

it doesnt seem like there is a price difference with the m15x. its still 1499 starting  . do they apply a discount at the checkout? the only discount i can see are software and some hardware like speakers.

They'll apply a 5% discount all if you ask, they do that all-year though. At least there's free shipping for college students.

The only discount I got (or was aware of) was the Alienware University, 5% one. But appearently you can play a game for free shipping as well?

that was during the summer gaming event which just ended 1 week ago. they had 3 flash games you can play. if you beat any one of the 3 or get a high enough score you can get a code for free shipping.

Yeah, if you played the games you get GSFREESHIP but that does not combine with the educational discount (I tried). Plus the free shipping is limited to $50 max. Alienware coupons come about as often as a blue moon (~ once in about 2 1/2 yrs or so)

The only differences are the Quickship systems for the m9750 & m17x laptops and Area 51 desktop which are pre-configured and come with free shipping - anywhere from $50-$100 off. You could get 4GB RAM on newegg with that amount... Just saying ;)
And I think you can still get free shipping by playing the flash games, I saw the 'Game your way to free shipping' ad on the Shopping Cart page just yesterday *... When I was configuring my future m15x for the 100th time :D

Off to bed now with me - Night all !!
    L8rs :)

*Edit: It seems to gone now though :(

It was only limited to $50.00 for laptops, and $100.00 for desktops.
