Down from $1,499 to a $1030 starting price in a month. Get it for a new $1,200 starting price and a $170 instant Black Friday rebate. That means that you can get the 9800M GT model for $1380, which is probably the best price/performance ratio on any laptop out. It's definitely a really tempting offer...

Even crazier, the Alienware m17x is down to a $1530 starting price from $200. A new $1800 starting price plus a $270 rebate.

I'm not sure if it's worth getting this or just getting a MacBook Pro like I've decided on. Both systems are obviously really different.

Yes, the deals are big enough to justify two threads in different sections.

That's actually not such a bad price for what they're offering. Just one thing: I noticed that to upgrade RAM to 2x2GB DDR2-667 costs $350 ( :eek2: ). That is... well, really beyond the pale. You'd think that at some point even these people would have some shame, but apparently not. 2x2GB DDR2-667 goes for somewhere from $50 to $100 on Amazon. If you're going to buy this (which may or may not be a good idea -- check what other stuff goes for at this sale beforehand), at the very least don't bother with their RAM and just buy it separately.

Most people just buy the RAM separately anyway. It's one of the few upgrades that you can do yourself without voiding the warranty.

It would be better to give them a call now. If they cannot adjust the price, perhaps it would be a good idea to cancel and re order it.

Ahh, I don't think the sale applies to European and international orders. But it won't hurt to give em a call and request a price adjustment.

Wow, they want to get rid of the extra m15x's they have on hand before the m15 comes out on April 31st.

As the chinese say, good ting no cheap and cheap ting no good. :D

prices also dropped in europe :)

i was only wondering what would be the best time because since i orderd the price has been up and it has gone down.

as i also want a empty smart bay (which i can order when it's in phase 4) i thoughed i would do the adjustments all @ once.

Smart bay, not sure. I think since that's "extra", it's different than just getting the price adjusted. Also, since it's only a 5 day sale or something, getting it changed now would be better than later- especially if they turn around and say "oh, that pricing is gone now..."

Well, at least, I think this could help you.

I doubt there's any concrete evidence, but they do seem due for a refresh... at least the motherboard... (DDR3 maybe?)

That way they could even announce a huge 1 day sale: on April 31st only, all laptops cost exactly $1. :)

P.S. For people who're still confused, recall how many days April has.
