This color profile will help improve the colors on your screen. They are optimized for Alienware computers!

    1) Download the Alienware Color Profile or Alienware 18 Color profile if you have an Alienware 18
    2) Place the downloaded color profile anywhere you like, I usually place it within my drivers folder
    3) Right click on the AlienwareRGBLed.icc or Alienware_18.icm (if you downloaded the Alienware 18 color profile) and then choose Install Profile
    4) Open Control Panel > Color Management
    5) In the first Tab ( Device) click on the checkbox which says Use my settings for this device then click on the ADD button on the bottom left and select the AlienwareRGBLed.icc or Alienware_18.icm then click on the color profile after it appears in the Profiles associated with this device and press the Set as Default Profile button

    6) Click on the Advanced Tab
    7) Set the Device Profile to: AlienwareRGBLed or Alienware_18.icm
    8) Set Viewing Conditions Profile to: WCS profile for ICC viewing conditions

    8) Click on Calibrate Display to start calibrating your display, please note that you cannot adjust some things manually like in the color calibration screens if you have a laptop but the default modified Alienware Color profiles should take care of everything perfectly, just click Next in the following screens and the final step is to calibrate your ClearType settings which is very important

Enjoy your newly calibrated screen with colors very close to real life and super sharp text.

Uh but AFAIK different alienware computers have different screens. My m18xR1 has Samsung 184HT and it's different from the M18xR3

Try it and see if you like the new calibration, if not, just choose the old profile back

Did you calibrate this yourself? If so, what calibrator did you use?

    Edit: I'm with @GodlikeRU , don't see a difference. o_O

no I got it off the Alienware forums and simply made this little guide to show people how to install it

if you find a better calibration I would appreciate it, my screen is in the sig but I couldn't find anything when googling its model number

The beste way to find color calibration profiles is on the Notebookcheck reviews (at the lcd results), they always make a icd profile of every notebook they test.

However keep in mind that every profile has to be specific for the lcd panel that is in your alienware, you can't just use any generic profile (well you can but it will just mess up the color settings).

You can try out the one from notebookcheck: http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/Alienware_18.icm

But trying default, the one you posted and that notebookcheck one, the default still seems the best to me.

All panels are not made the same, a personally calibrated panel will bring out the best results in one's display. Especially since everyone's lighting conditions are different and panels differ.

Sometimes using someone else's calibrated profile can also reduce quality, I've had it happen once so I stick with stock and use windows calibration if necessary until I buy a calibrator for myself.

EDIT: Also an easier way to apply the profiles:

    1) Check use my settings for this device

    2) Add the icc profile

    3) click the icc profile and click set as default

The change is immediate and doesn't require restarting!

Thanks a lot for the info guys, I tried stock profile, OP's profile, and the notebookcheck profile on my Alienware 14 and the notebookcheck one looks the best to me on my LG IPS panel. The stock profile always seemed a little too dark and greenish.

I can never see any difference with color profiles. Everything always looks the same. Perhaps because I am partially color blind (typical male red-green deficiency).

For most people calibration might be unnecessary. Setting aside my own inability to tell the difference, one that can tell a difference cannot miss something they never had. ;)

Can I ask you guys a calibrated color profile for an AW17R2 with IPS TrueLife (glossy) display?

Sorry for bothering you but I'm waiting for my Alienware to arrive and this is killing me inside ;)

The 17 R2 touch display model is LG Phillips LGD0459

I haven't been able to find a color profile for it.
