I'll give you mine when I get back home from classes tn. You have to work him a bit to get him to budge but the deal is decent when he does.

Team - just a word of caution... please do not post the Canadian Rep's name, email or other personal contact information on the open forum. This would be against forum rules. A link to a company web site such as slick's link above is fine.

I would think you'd get it cheaper in Canada since you'll have to declare it and pay tax on it when you come back to Canada.

Yea the deciding factor would be a m18x with dual 580s. The price difference is huge. If you are going for the m8x USA would be cheaper.

Dell US won't ship to Canada, so unless you buy it from ebay, or someother, you have to get it from Canada.

Why don't you try reflexnotebook.ca or Fortnax and get a 10% discount

I tried to haggle with a sales rep just now and he basically told me he could get me 50$ off.. which is sort of sad.. I was expecting something a bit.. larger.

Does anyone have a good sales rep they could PM me? I'm looking to get the m17x R3 for about 2200$

For Canadians who have access to a US mail holding facility at border crossings (live near the border), send me a PM and I'll give you the best discount rep ever. You'll save much more than if you ordered it from a Canadian rep. All you need is a US location to send it to.

    Hey guys,

    Just to follow up here.

First call to Dell Canada got me a 50$ savings... No thanks.

I waited a few days and called again and got this very nice lady that gave me a GREAT quote.

Anyways the laptop came to about $2600 before taxes.. and she got it down to 2174.99$

Pretty hefty savings if you ask me! If you guys want her extension, just PM me! She's a great Canadian sales rep :D

I've called a few times and have been getting bad quotes. Around 5% and that's with my EPP code through my work. What are the best deals people have been able to get percentage wise?

I'm contemplating going through a reseller or used.

I have been speaking with 7 sales reps and 6 of them offered 75$ off, 200$ off or 5% off. Finally the last one I got promised 13% off, which is pretty good considering that they already had -$648 offer going on and upgrade to 2 Year Advanced Plan was +$89 and not +$289.

I made a reasonable price before started calling Dell what I wanted to spend and I told every rep what my budget was. Either they go for it or then they don't, but eventually someone usually will. The funny thing is though that when I asked them to email the quote about half sent a quote with original price and not the discussed price.

During this time I didn't even once get a Canadian sales rep.

Hey guys, just a few questions here.

@theDisfigure, did you just keep calling in throughout the week to ask different reps on discounts? I may pursue such a method, lol. 13% off 2800 bucks is pretty significant.

So far a 5% student discount is the best I've got, and he mentioned that usually its 3% but they could bump it up to 5%. Hearing this instantly got me thinking that perhaps bartering was an option. Which of course led me to this post.

Well actually I made all the calls in the last two days. Spoke with one sales rep, and when he didn't give me what I wanted, thanked and called again to get another rep.

What you can try is to check how much the laptop would be 15% off + taxes and then tell them that is your budget. If after like 5 reps you won't receive any positive response to that go a bit lower and so on.

Or try the reflexnotebook.ca as it has been advertised in here. I emailed them the configuration but haven't heard anything yet.

I see, thank you for sharing your wisdom XD. I really do appreciate it.

Another thing is, that they always pester me for my information before they even answer even the most basic question. They have my info on record, so usually when I call they try to link me to the same rep I talked to last time.

How'd you get past this issue? Did you try to bypass giving info, or did you give it to em anyway and proceed like normal.

I had to give them my info every time so they could pull out my account. Takes time but I guess you'll just have to go through with it.

When I called they asked me if I had spoken to any sales rep before about the purchase. I said no few times and they connected me to whoever is free during that time, and if you're unlucky it can go to the same person again (Happened to me once..). Few times I said that I had spoken to a sales rep but I would like to speak to a another one, and they just connected me to another rep.

But overall the chances of getting the same rep are pretty slim so you can just say that you haven't spoken to anyone about the purchase.

theDisfigure what time of day did you call? The times I've called have been after work (after 5pm). I'm pretty sure I was getting transferred to India. I would guess the Canadian sales reps work 9-5 but haven't had a chance to call during the day. I remember reading in the buying advice thread that the US sales reps have more leeway on prices. Might be worth trying to get a US or Canadian sales rep.

First time I called around 4pm and today I started calling after 1pm.

I guess I could have asked for Canadian rep but I didn't want to sound rude or anything so I just went random.

Been trying all day, and no real luck so far.

Another question Disfigure, it appears that they really cant budge on the 16gb model of the M18x.

Should I use the 4gb model as the base? When you add a crossfired 6990m they both come out to the same price, so I figured there was no real reason to pursue the 4gb one.

Yeah the 16gb one is a tough one just because it already has quite large saving as a base. You could try 4gb model, whatever floats your boat. As it has been discussed in this forum, you can easily buy another 4gb or more for your needs and install them so you don't need to go for 16gb.

But the fact is that because the one with 16gb has instant savings of -$648, it becomes about $150 cheaper then if you did the same configuration with others.

By using sites like that ^ you guys can even shop at the Dell Outlet US and save even more. If you call the outlet, there's a -15% sale off refurbished AW laptops right now if I'm not mistaken - you just have to call and tell them what configurations you want and they check.

Don't be scared away by refurbished laptops, as you get the same exact next-business warranty for 1 year as you would with any other new AW systems ;)

I was in the same boat as you. EPP code is useless and the member call number is useless. I called yesterday willing to order and they said the membership sales team (or whatever they're called) was closed and to call back tomorrow. So useless; the guy wasted 5 minutes of my time asking me questions to verify my EPP code only to say they sales team was closed.

Go to this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/657421-alienware-sales-assistance-live-us-canada-upgrade-new-system-purchases.html and get a quote from Allan.

I placed an order with him last night; sent him an email Saturday and only got a reply back yesterday as he's really busy (and understandably probably didn't see it on the weekend).

Will reflexnotebook's 10% off work on student/MPP deals or only through the regular alienware site?
