sorry to hear that steven
i bet your gutted.
if i were you i would highlight here " SAGER SAGER SAGER SAGER" and then look HERE -
He just came from an M860TU as he didn't like it...
So I don't think he will be wanting to go back to those.
Good luck finding a laptop... -
Take a look at Xoticpc.com
Guaranteed far better than any AW. -
didn't we just establish that he was not overwhelmed by the m860tu?
-
-
Give XoticPC a call and will understand what customer service really is.
-

Maybe an Arima W840 DI (a.k.a OCZ Whitebook), which is basically the 2nd generation of the Alienware M9750 (which is good because you get a nice looking notebook that looks like an Alienware, but isn't). It's thinner and more powerful than the M17x, though you won't get the fancy lights. A bunch of resellers are getting these soon or have them for pre-order (including XoticPC under the name "OCZ Extreme 840 or something like that"), just check under "Other Manufacturers" in the main forum section, and go to the OCZ section.
-
That sounds like a good idea steven. You get the lighted keyboard without the exploding computer. You are happy with your purchase and the manufacturer doesn't have to ignore you and give you poor customer service. Everybody wins.

Yeah, I just had tp call newegg, and cancel an order with them too, It's to bad, so far I've gone through 2 lappys, and one I never even recieved.
I was looking at the whitebook, but I just can't get past the extra 2 inches. -
Well, those are the only two G92 based 15.4 inch notebooks (M860TU and M15x). The next best thing would be the Asus G50 with the 9700M GTS.
If anything, I've compared both a 15 inch and a 17 inch notebook, and the 17 is not much bigger than the 15 inchers. If you still feel that 17 inchers are too big, then you'll have to wait a while until there are more options for 15.4 inch notebooks with high-end mobile GPUs. -
so how many emails have you gotten from them? I only received 1 email when i placed my order. Order status says i'm in stage 2(billing) called CS yesterday and they said I'm actually stage 3 and waiting till the 8800 is instock and unknown of arrival time on the 8800

@OP
would you consider the gateway from best buy? -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I'm not really a gateway fan. I think of them as cheap computers. 'm looking at ASUS right now.
-
i've read a lot that the ASUS just aren't as good as they could be though...

steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I think I'll just buy a cheaper lappy to get me thru this quarter, and than see about an AW, Maybe they will have a new 15 by than.
-
I personally think we might not see a new 15" model until middle-end-post next semester (mid 2009). I'm no AW representative though, I just recall some new hardware coming out at that time that AW might want to refit their new models with, which is what I'm basing my guess on.
-
Hehe!
At least you don’t have to pay a restocking fee! -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
well how long has the m15x been out, I'm sure they won't go more than a year before releasing the next one, whats up with all the bre3d stuff.

But then again, I'm not sure if this notebook can game much. It's beautiful and slick though!
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
no, I need a computer built for gaming 1st and foremost.
-
i take it you don't like the sager notebooks?
-
Dell XPSM1730.
By the way Dell is one of the best companies I've dealt with recently. If you REALLY want me to I'll argue how good they are compared to other companies. -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
Tried, Sager, wasn't overly impressed.
and sorry stone, feel free to start the arguments than, I actually ordered an Inspiron 13 for my wife yesterday, less than 30 min later I called them back to cancel. The thought that they would charge me $50.00 for a 4th gig of ram, and refuse to put a 64 bit OS on it is ridicules, to say the least, to me thats shotty salesmanship on borderline scamming. And than for their "unknowledgable" people to argue with me on the phone trying to tell me that the 32 bit will use all 4 gigs, I'm sorry, but it reminded of my last purchase from Dell 2 years ago, when I said I would never order another computer again.
I was fortunate tho, I got my wife an HP dv4t for the same price with better specs, and... a 64bit OS. -
so i'm curious about what notebook you are leaning to?
-
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
really Mtv, I'm not happy with any of the choices out there.
-
isn't that new gateway supposed to match up to the m15?
-
I swear it'll be one of those moments where you'll stumble over someone who has the notebook that has everything you've ever wanted in a notebook and there'll be like some kind of light (from the heavens) beaming down at it, and your first response upon taking first sight of the notebook will be: "THAT--- THAT IS EXACTLY THE NOTEBOOK FOR ME!!!!!1"
..and then suddenly you'll get into that awkward position where everybody is staring at you for yelling that out all suddenly.
Yep, you'll find it soon all right. -
then just get a cheap desktop, as its obvious you WONT be happy with a gaming laptop of ANY kind. and get a cheap laptop to surf with. Why would dell NOT charge you for more ram. sheesh. EVERYONE KNOWS to get the lowest amount configurable and then buy it from newegg. Everyone but you i guess.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
haha oceanus...
and jah, I've got a cheap desktop. I want a powerful notebook, and as for upgrade through newegg, nope, wow thats great, you can really do that?
anyways, I had to max out the Inspirion 13 because I had a coupon for 30% off of a purchase $1349, and with that laptop, I had every component maxed, and the total came to $1348, than i choose the plant a tree bringing the total to $1350. still even though I was saving over $400, it's the principal, that they would sale that extra gig of ram, knowing that it is unusable. -
the tree thing to get the coupon is funny! and smart thinking to boot! I hear ya on the principal. Marketing these days is WAY SHADY!
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
haha yeah tell me, it cost 2 dollars to plant a tree, and would of saved me over 400. that would of been the most expensive tree they ever planted.
