I've tried haggling and failed miserably :( I don't know if it's the agents I'm going through or if they've cracked down

they also seem to have completely locked down the agents being able to customize models further

It's just the agent. Out of 5 chat sessions, I got $100 off twice, $200 off once, $200 plus NBD once, and $500 once, each time using a 4k config, being intelligent and aggressive, and asking for 20% off.

The chat/Indian reps are useless if you want to get a big discount. US based reps are the way to go.

Hint: try the Dell Small Business section, they can give you a decent discount (no need to be a registered business :thumbsup :)

Chat worked fine for me, and usually they don't care about Small Business ordering Alienware.

You said you got $500 on the chat..on a $4000 system. Thats nothing compared to what US agents can do (AND small business agents)...with supervisor override.

I've also gotten $1200 off a $3500 system (M18x R2), when it was old. New systems are surprisingly resilient to haggling.

Last night I was able to haggle for $100 off a $1300 alienware 14 system. They wouldn't budge off of that 100 dollars though. This was through the phone. How do you get a US rep?

Chat or call during US business hours, and you have about a 10% chance to get a US rep. Alternatively, you can call Small Business, as the previous poster mentioned, but you will have to pose as a business. (No verification, but you still have to pretend.)
