Alienware Delivery times from UPS for UK

Hi Gang, :hi2:

Just was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it normally takes to deliver laptop from first notification that it's shipped from factory please.

I'm looking for the delivery time into the UK (I'm not actually sure where the laptop is coming from) ... China???

I thought they were manufactured in China.

 

It took two days from when the production website got updated to arrive here in Durham (UK). Flies from Shanghai in China, through Korea, Kazakhstan, Poland, Germany... It takes a pretty strange route but some how they do it in around two days!

My order says "Shipped" since Saturday ... 3 days later and still no tracking status on UPS site .....

I'm being a spoilt brat!!!

The guys from the UK, how long was it from your status changing on Dell site to "Shipped" to UPS showing the tracking and delivery date?
This is soooooooo close yet still soooooooo far away.
I wouldn't mind but this is the fourth order following dell cancelling and automatically re-ordering the Laptop ... the pessimist in me is thinking something has got to be going wrong!

 

Ordered around the 6th of July, got it on the 18th I think pretty awesome turn around. Loving it so far!

 

48 hours. It goes from China to Korea to Kazakhstan to Poland to Germany to UK...

 

Just an update guys.

It arrived yesterday! .... What a beast, it's huge!

After not seeing any movement on the UPS site for a number of days, I viewed the tracking yesterday morning (at 6:30) to find that the status / tracking had gone from nothing to on van for delivery that day. It was a good job my daughter had broken up from school the day before because I wouldn't have been able to book any time off from work to take delivery.

I'm amazed at how quiet it is, my last laptop an Evesham (anybody in the UK may remember Evesham Computers) has lasted 6 years and was getting very loud.

This is a dream ... and after spending numerous hours download / transferring my Total War games onto the system the graphics are excellent.

My only downside at the moment is that I think I should have gone for some SSD storage instead of 2 HDD's ... never mind!

After several false starts and about three cancelled orders, this beast had a revised EDD of 2nd August (moved from 29th July), so you can imagine my surprise to actually get the "18" 5 days before the original date and 9 days earlier than the revised date.

Anyway, to everyone still waiting for their system .... it is worth the wait (trust me).

Only thing I'm waiting for now is the Vindicator backpack ..... and 3rd September - Total War Rome 2 ! :thumbsup:

 

If its any help my 18 was shipped last Friday and arrived on the Monday. My tracking link was available immediately.

I registered here just this second so I could reply to this thread

I ordered an Alienware 18, and the EDD was 06/08/2013.

It has gone straight through pre-production and production, and was apparently shipped two days ago. But according to UPS, it is still waiting to be given to them, and only the order has been processed, not the package.

So I am hoping I am in the same situation as richardm1968, and the laptop will mysteriously magic it's way from china to the english van within a minute. Fingers Crossed!

But as a business customer, I don't know if the process is different...?

 

Oh, I forgot to say, I'm looking forward to Rome 2 total war. Best series of games ever!

I'm not sure about the standard of service for business customers .... I thought they did get a better level of service .... but that may depend on the size of the organisation.

All I can say is "keep checking the tracking status" via the link you should have on your account. I don't think UPS keep it updated in real-time.

Finally, enjoy the beast and only 30 days until the 3rd September!

And I just received a status update. It's due on Monday the 05 of August. I'm so impatient! But as you said, I'm sure it's well worth the wait

erm i got link to track it down but it still say its in freakin china,this is second day,normaly goods from china shipped by airplane should arrive in germany (where i am) in like 3 days,so i should expect it tomorrow?another question,atm im alone and working so untill like 17h there is no1 to take package , do they try to diliver it 3x at day if noone is there or how it goes with UPS?

 

Once they have shipped and you have the tracking info, it's normally only a day or two. Sometimes the tracking info can be misleading as to where it actually is....I've seen Khazakstan on my tracking info before now! LOL

As for UPS delivering - if you are not in, you'll probably get carded. If you don't contact UPS to re-arrange a suitable time for yourself, they'll just load it onto the van for another attempt the next day.....

 

well i did a bit of a research so to say
i got a friend who works like postman and he know those things about UPS GLS and others he said to me they try to deliver it 2x on a day,if u are not at home they send it back,i told him it cant be brutal like that,so i give a call to UPS and they told me if there is no1 to take it i will need to call em again to see with em how to pull it out (delivery man will leave some note or something).i love how DHL works they just leave it in POST and u can pick it up whenever you want.


anyway when i was talking with woman from UPS she told me its still in china,she saw basicly what i did,but that thing is not updated in real time im sure,i think it should arrive tomorrow or in monday,in both cases i wont be there to pick it up =)

 

That's interesting that they shipped yours with UPS. Usually with UK orders they are sent via Walsh Western and delivered by UKMail.

 

I've had maybe 15+ or so deliveries over the years and the majority have been UPS - maybe one or two via Walsh Western.

 

I ordered mine on the 25th of July and it should arrive on the 4th of August! Monday!!! i can't wait!!!!!!!! i hope it won't be delayed but on the site the informations hasn't been updated since it's gone from china!
