How many dimm slots do the alienware laptops have. I cannot find any decent info except that they come with 8 gigs.

the m18x and the m17x seem to expensive for me. i need a rig $1500 and if the m14x does not have 4 dimm slots it is not worth getting alienware.
nevermind the m14x has only 2 dimm slots sadly. i found it in the m14x manua =/

I don't understand why you need more than 2 slot, you can put 2x4GB in it and it's more than enough...

I'm not sure about the m11/14x How ever the m17/18x do have 4 slots. I'd presume the 11 and the 14 has only 2, don't quote me, however 8GB kits are relatively cheap these days and don't worry to much about RAM unless your worried about video editing 4GB is sufficient 8GB is nice.

    M14X has 2 slots.

And I thought I read somewhere that the i7 only supports 8gb of RAM? Or maybe that was for just the 2.0ghz one and the other two options supported more RAM?

Either way, 8gb is plenty for a while.

    m11x has 2 slots, same with m14x.

    m17x (r3) has 4 slots, same with m18x.

it isn't how much ram can the processor support, it is more how much can each slot process. Like the m17x (r3 only) and m18x can process up to 32gb ram.

Anyways 8gb/16gb is definitely enough for anything you can throw at it today.
