Hello everyone, I noticed a slowdown in farcry 2 and Red alert 3, now as informed by everyone in the Gaming forum I went ahead and downloaded HWmonitor and my max temp for GPU was 104C what could be causing this? both of my fans seem to be working fine?

i just answered it on your original post:

    thermal paste.
too much contact between the gpu and the dissipator..

they will replace either the paste, or the whole Mobo.

Does anyone know if Alienware will send me the replacement motherboard to install myself or will I have to send them my pc?

Alienware usually requires you to send them the laptop unless its something like a videocard install then they just send you the card.

Well... I think its worth it to have your system running at optimum conditions.
Or you can just open it up, take the heatsink/fan off, clean thermal paste residue, apply new thermal paste, reseat the heatsink/fan, and it might work.

    But, you may void warranty.

Besides 104C is pretty dangerous and can cause more damage to your mobo...

Honestly man I know you're trying to help but just delete all of your posts. All that stuff you just posted was completely false information. DELL AND AW ARE SEPARATE.

AW will make you send back your computer for a mobo problem however dell with come to your house (I sent my M9750 out and my sister had her E1420 dissected at our house).

Dont listen to people tell you to do it yourself. You will VOID your warranty.

Just send it back to them as you already know buying Alienware comes with sending your laptop out if something goes wrong.

Yea it's probably because when it comes to spending that much money on a laptop, I personally anaylze every part of it because if it isn't running 100% then why did I pay a premium for it anyways? For example the case issue with the small bump. I know it isn't a huge issue but I mean for a $3000 notebook it just doesn't feel good having issues like that. I just can't sit there and look at an imperfection on a notebook like that.

Maybe I'm expecting too much :p

Lol on the piece of **** desktop at Cline library at school. Just popping in to say hi and that I sent my laptop out on monday. Alienware has sent me a GPU fan to replace myself as well as replacing the videocard by myself. it does not void the warranty if you are working with an Alienware tech or using their online guide.

I spoke with AW and they asked me to open the laptop up and look at the graphics card for any signs of "issues", etc. I'll do that later tonight when i get home from work.
