    Hi Everyone,

I'm planning to buy a Alienware m17x from Taiwan because it's cheaper (1200p screen on default, no extra charge for Nebula Red, starting from USD1736, official Dell website not a reseller) and I wanted to ask you guys regards to some shipping questions

    (1) I'm living in New Zealand, so I'm thinking about asking Dell to arrange a shipping from Taiwan to NZ (it only costs like USD55 to ship). Has anyone shipped their Alienware laptop from overseas before?
    (2) If so, did you get Dell to do it? How do they charge?
    (3) Did you have to pay an import tax when the laptop reached your country?

    Cheers.

As far as I know Dell will only ship it to the country relating to that website, so I (being in the UK) cannot order a Dell from the dell.com, but instead have to order it from Dell.co.uk

I did try to do this, because the prices in USD were better than GBP even after taxes, but they wouldn't allow me to do so.

Here you go, you will find out that when you customize it, Nebula Red is +NTD0 and there's only 1920x1200 for display option. Starting price is NTD60000, I can get a 5% rebate which makes it NTD57000 ~ USD1736 (from XE currency converter)

Fragilexx: thanks for your feedback, maybe they'd decline me as well because Alienware m17x in NZ costs like !@#$. I'm trying to convince them to ship it to Alienware NZ (this way I can avoid import tax) and then I'll go pick it up. I'll see how they reply... their (only) Taiwanese Sales Rep is currently overseas until 28th (IRONIC)

BTW, anyone know about import taxes? For eg. has anyone bought an expensive item from overseas (for eg. laptop from Xoticpc) and got taxed when it arrived at your country??

    Thanks for the help guys

I'd say they are going to say no since it's pretty much the law that you gotta pay the right taxes (seem to remember something on TV about defrauding your country ;o)
