Do you see a nagging box evertime you attach or detach your power cord to your laptop?
I had it for years until today when I decided to remove it for good!
You can always switch to the Binary GFX by pressing Fn+F7.

There are two ways to disable this box:

1- the easiest way is to run a program that captures the box by its title and close it. I suggest the $19.95 Annoying windows eliminator: "Basta Buzof".

    ===== ADVANCED SOLUTION BELOW====
2- the free way and it invloves hacking the file
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Alienware On-Screen Display\AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe
here is how: (backup this folder somewhere safe first)
2.1- Open task manager and kill the task AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe
2.2- Get the app Resource Hacker crated by Angus Johnson
    2.3- Run the ResourceHacker.exe app
    2.4- Open folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Alienware On-Screen Display\
2.5- Drag the file AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe to the ResourceHacker window
2.6- On the left panel click dialog and then click the item 218 : 1028 and delete it
2.7- Save the file with the name AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe to your desktop
2.8- Drag it to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Alienware On-Screen Display\ and overwrite the old one
    2.10 run AlienwareOn-ScreenDisplay.exe
    Done!

this alert only appears if you have laptop with 60hz panel and by default optimus enabled. i have a 120hz panel and this alert does not appear as the intel GPU is disabled and so this message doesn't appear nor can i switch to the intel GPU.

Yeah if your using windows 8 or 10 too, you can just get rid of it, by running your graphics in dedicated mode. There. no one has it anymore !

I remember I've seen it on some. But I'm unsure if it does it on all laptops.

I don't remember ever seeing it before, because had I seen it I would have disabled it. It is a moderate annoyance to be prompted to do something you have no intention of doing. Not seeing it would be ideal. Great tip for editing the executable in Resource Hacker.

Depends on the model. The M18xR1/R2/AW18 with manual switching it pops open on the desktop any time you disconnect the AC adapter. It's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but it would be nicer to never have it open up for any reason unless you intentionally press the FN key combo.

Right. On the 18, atleast for me, it pops up every time the power cord is disconnected unless you select to "not show this message again"

We don't have that option on the M18xR1 or R2.

Yeah its a pain in the butt, however it was usually the first sign that I tripped over a powercord back in the day (or my cats having done so)
