I presume this will be where they officially announce the 900m series into their lineups.
-
I would like to come, but i'm living in Italy. It's cost about 600$ flying from Milano to New York

"hear about something fresh out of the lab that will change everything"
Wonder what that is... -

I dont know, they have already shown us the alpha, the new 13, and th enew area 51.... we have most of the info on those already.
Im sure they will be showing off the dock for the 13. But not sure what else.... perhaps a tablet now that the nvidia k1 64 bit is coming out?reborn2003 likes this. -
The Alienware 13 and Area-51 will be presented there for sure. I wouldn't be too sure that they'll introduce R2's just yet.
Wish I could go, but I won't be. Have exams coming up. -
Hey guys, read the comment at event post: https://www.facebook.com/Alienware
They answered "What if there was an Alienware 13,14,15,16,17,and 18? You can have ALL the screen sizes! _DC1" It maybe was an anticipation? -
They're obviously joking around. Why would we have not heard about the other new systems? They basically plastered the Alienware 13 and Area-51 all over the net.

Would be understandable if they hid some major things, like what direction they are going with their hardware and I quote -
"We've shown off a ton of new hardware this year and we still have more on the way that will address a lot of questions. "
It would be hard to imagine _just_ the docking port device and reiteration of the AW 13 and Area 51 news.... if this statement means anything. "Tons" from a sales person could be indicating showing of refreshes for laptops down to a new mouse and keyboard -
On Alienware's US site, they replaced the Aurora with the Area 51. This most liekly means they are discounting the Aurora. Oh, and here are some things about the Area 51.
As well, the 14 and 18 have some heavy discounts up to $400; the 17 and x51 have pathetic discounts. -
I'm glad they finally replaced the Aurora with the Area-51. Can't wait to see some unboxings and whatnot.
-
the minute they show a slimmer and new M15 count me in ^^ ! For the rest,...MEH

It's awesome that they are keeping the Windows 7 option for those that insist on having the best performance. Having Windows 8/10 partially crippling an otherwise awesome octa-core 5960X would really blow chunks. Until Micro$haft fixes whatever it is they have done to hinder CPU performance and screw up their RTC, the superior OS for overclockers and performance enthusiasts will continue to be Windows 7. So far my beta testing on Windows 10 suggests it is not really any less messed up than Windows 8.

Darn.. still full price on the canadian site ...

Well, hopefully there will be a newer and better dual-GPU beast with an Extreme CPU and ample power supply. We need another gladiator to take the triple-threat up a notch to quad-damage... We need another m-m-m-m-m-multi-kill. I'll be looking for a report on what was to die for from you guys that are close enough to attend this event.
If there's not something to look forward to in monster-grade lappies, then Old Yeller (R1) might be getting 780M SLI as a hand-me-down for Christmas and a shiny new pair of 980M GPUs may be in the stockings for the R2. I need a good excuse to rip 'er apart and move the guts into the red chassis I have sitting in a box in the closet.

HIDEvolution is already selling Alienware 18's with 980M SLI. I think it will be pretty beastly to see it in the older models.

I think the Micro$haft Nazis set some drop-dead dates on Windows 7 retirement, which may vary by country. Hopefully, it will be available through alternative channels as an aftermarket upgrade for a long time. I was thinking the other day that I should probably invest in a few more license/product key for Windows 7 Pro and/or Ultimate x64 before the prices go up. I suspect the people that still have the product will charge an arm and a leg for the better OS once Micro$haft issues their executive order for the OEMs to force-feed only new versions of Windows to consumers without any regard for what they want.

Micro$haft (I like that name Mr Fox) sell the OEM licences very cheap for the current version of win. Unlike the retail product it is only licensed for the machine it is sold with (not transferable) and has no 'downgrade' license like the full retail (and MLA) products have.
I've got a couple of win 7 retail licences so I may well roll it back but that will cause issues if I need support.
Fingers crossed for tomorrowMr. Fox likes this. -
When I go to alienware website all the configurations say 8.1 except the highest configuration for 4000 still says windows 7 pro.
Same for the 18. All say 8.1 except highest config. It says windows 7 pro.
When I bought my 17 a year ago from Dell my system died 3 days after I got it and they sent a technician two separate times replace mother board and each time they came they brought a usb windows 7 install with key sealed in little bag and the techs left them each time and never even opened the so I have 2 windows 7 on usb with product key. It's only windows 7 home premium but still windows 7. I wonder if they will work 3 or five years from now if I need to use them when I buy a new laptop and has something like windows 8 or 10. -

Ah, never saw that, although the top model does not offer the 120hz panel as an option
. Guessing they still have some 'old stock' win 7 or another web site anomaly
. I expect the US to be the last location offering this option across the board.
-
It would be great if anyone can ask a rep / alienware official from there about the 9xx series.
Sidenote: Does anyone know how to do a "windows refund" of W8/W8.1 from DELL/Alienware if you are in the US? Or is there any third party service that does this for you (if you buy the system from them)? I plan to buy one in the near future but want to use Windows 7 instead. -
-
-
What this means is, you can no longer order windows 7 with a new computer unless it's the pro version. The pro version still doesn't have a end of sales date yet.
The good news is, people can still get windows 7 on new computers. The bad news is, it'll cost them money since the pro version is more expensive than 7 hp or 8 core.

I would just save that copy of Windows for another computer. -
Considering how much of an impact Windows has on people's lives, I don't think they should be able to force consumers to purchase upgraded software.
Anyway, Windows 8.1+ will start impacting performance with DX support that Windows 7 doesn't have. So, might as well jump on the bandwagon. -
Not sure DX12 will be a good enough reason to downgrade to the newer inferior OS... at least not until game developers start drinking the Micro$lop Kool-Aid and stop supporting DX11. Compromises always suck. -

As gamers, windows is always going to get in the way with it's multi-tasking kernel and no ability to circumvent it (since Vista) and write directly to the video hardware. If MS were vaguely interested in gamers they would have put in a 'kill all windows background' type command. For those older gamers, remember shutting windows down to run the game directly? Of course we are stuck with direct-x nowadays but OpenGL still shows up occasionally.
Oh well, looks like I'm doomed to have win 8 stuffed down my throat.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Ah well, it's like anything else in life, Brother MickyD. With sufficient frequent and repetitious exposure, a person eventually gets used to foul odors, nasty tastes, bad behavior and crappy OSes.
You could hide small quantities of dog feces in brownies and nobody would know they were eating dog poop. If they were to eat the brownies every day you could gradually increase the amount of poop until it was a lot and they still wouldn't notice if you were careful about not adding too much at once. Gradual decline in morals and ethical standards work that way, too. So, there's no reason the same principle can't work for Micro$oft Windows, right?MickyD1234 likes this. -

Great from today also my aurora is become a fossil maybe for the next year we can see the new aurora r5
-
Well the new area51 has a good position on top of alpha and x51 and possibly will replace the aurora completely. Starting price could be interesting also the whole upgrade options. I'm hoping that ordering a single card option will be possible and that we're not stuck between dual an tripple card options.

I really like the design of the new Area-51. Not only aesthetically, but mechanically, too.
Easy to access. Easy to modify. Design focused mainly on cooling. It seems like a dream for a gamer. But how much will it cost... More than the Aurora? Hmm...Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
If any one of you are still wondering, one of the configs will cost $2199 (could be base). This is according to the Apparel Contest at AWA.

Is this going to be live streaming?

And let's be real, the amount of research into the Area 51 and its case will make it more costly than the Aurora by good hundreds.
