Nice find good read realy impressed with it running mass effect 2 maxed
-
yeah its looking impressive but i wanna see a review where they overlock it. see if it get a big boost from the few extra mhz. i would assume it would.
-
Damn, this machine isn't disappointing.
-
Looks exciting

WHAT???

no DISC drive?! Maybe Im a noob, but doesn't that suck?!
Im might have to buy my lady one of these
-
lol i don't remember when i installed game or watched movie from disk last time. it's not necessary for me for around 3 years lol
-
Yeah, every serious PC gamer uses Steam, so...
No point of getting PC games disked anymore with DRM and stuff
-
plus. Ea games you buy in the store come with a download key. So I bought mass effect 2 from the store but will dl it on my m11x
-
Well, I see your point....but not being able to burn CDs is a buzzkill...
Edit: You could use an external, so I guess its a good compromise. -
The mass effect comment cements it. My M17x will be going for sale Ruhr after I get my new 4870 cards.
-
I really love the size and the alienware design. Its too bad I need an ATI card for some of my work. Then there is the problem of XP. I need it too. Hopefully, xp install will be possible on the M11x. I like it so much I'm even thinking of getting a Vidock 2 5670 for my work combined with the M11x. crazy! I know. I might do it though!
Does anyone know if it has an expresscard slot?
Thank you -
Looks like it might have an Expresscard 34 slot.

Why not keep the M17x and get the M11x, that is what I am contemplating
-
Great find!
Man this thing does live up to my expectations even if it comes with a SU7300 as the top CPU.
Just one problem now, Cosmic Black or Lunar Silver they both look fantastic.
It's gonna be hard to pick which one I order.
Finally a AW I can afford...yay! -
Hello , mirror-display .
Just can't understand it how one can get this idea, especially if it is about mobility /mobile gaming.
Or am i the only one to live in a place where there is a bit sunlight and it is not dark all the time?! -
Nothings perfect but this comes pretty close.
This is mainly marketed for gamers that want something a little smaller and mobile.
I can see your point about the highly reflective glass surface of the screen but at least it is a good quality one with a good brightness level. -
I made another thread, but here's another review:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews.php?reviewid=924&pageid=19
It's much more detailed than the IGN one - includes temps (they're nice and cool, 72C tops for the GPU), overclocking ( SU7300 up to 1.6GHz), lots of pics, and even an opened up case.
Oh, and they absolutely love it:
-
Omg Omg I Want One I Want One!!!
-
I am waiting for actual figures in reviews. But i doubt this will have above 250cd/m².
And that's what i don't understand, not only in this case but in the most case. Even most of the netbooks are getting glare displays.....how can you come up with such a logic to think it is mobile with a high reflective display?
Ok, perhaps in M11x case, people using it for LANs don't have a problem because the light conditions are very dim.
Atleast give the people the possibility to choose the display.... -
Yeah. I realized how much I love the M17x after I typed that.
Maybe. We'll see.
The M11x has a magnesium chassis!!! Even if panels are plastic, this thing is built to last. -
Exactly. Last time I touched my disc drive was when I wiped Vista to get XP on my new rig (at the time) and that was over three years ago. The only thing I use that would need a disc are games, and I'm a loyal Steam customer so I'm set.
Thank you, Gabe Newell. -
I totaly see your point but honestly most new laptops come with a shiny screen these days.
It would have been nice to pick what screen someone prefers -
Nvm kind of harsh so retracted
-
+rep good find, and a damn good review, might have to get one now, and i hope this shows all the nay sayers it's a damn good system. -
This things looking really nice. I might get it as my "M17x on the go" lol.
-
Lol on the go version of lappy (or in 17x's case portable desktop)
-
I took mine cross country last week. Probably 20 lb travel weight with bag. Yikes! I am not doing that again!
But it was worth it to not miss out on me2. -
External optical drive to load is fine, but as others have said, most of my newer games (3+ years old) either have an official no-DVD patch or are digital downloads through Steam, Direct2Drive, etc.
-
what? i buy all my games on disk because i dont want to cap my DL limit and i want a nice box sitting on my shelf so i can see all the games i have accquired over the years, my recent purchases are dawn of war 2, left for dead 2, Mordern warfare 2, and dragon age.
no CD ROM drive really kills the M11X -
You can pick up a USB one for $50. Do you really need the drive with you at all times just for installing games? -
I rarely use my disc drive. I find it easier and faster to back up and copy with an SD card. and more space.
-
Thats why I want the M11x. it sounds weird but its a portable gaming laptop for my main gaming laptop..which is portable but heavy
Its like an add-on or something.
-
Ditto Thorpe24. Very goooood review. This machine is a !!!BEAST!!! for its size (and even for a bigger sized system). The hardware heaven review expresses that BEASTLINESS very nicely. Good find!
-
Does anyone know if theres something on the market for reducing the reflectiveness of a screen? The All Powerful range all have that glass screen don't they? I honestly can't stand reflection when I'm trying to use a computer, but I can't forsake natural light in favour of a laptop... I'll turn see-through!
*My big bro actually used to call me cave fish a few years ago... No prizes for guessing why!
