Alienware M11x YouTube HD Video Review (with Gameplay)

Thanks for the great review even had my question on the performance on world of warcraft, I'm probably going to buy it.

 

How was the FPS in Dalaran?

 

Thanks for the review, it's certainly nice to have high quality pics/videos since most of us can't really go to "BuyMore" and check the laptop for ourselves.

Just a suggestion about World of Warcraft testing. I think a lot of people would like to see a video of a raid or Alterac Valley or something with a lot of people, spells and action. Killing a monster in a zone with noone else in worked perfectly on my Dell XPS laptop when I bought it almost 2 years ago.

(I don't play it anymore but if I did, that's what I would've liked to see.)

EDIT: Quick Q, I saw your video review of the Astro A40s and I was wondering using that headset how would you enable the alienware's 5.1 surround sound?

Nice review. Was your 7 hour battery time with the Intel intergrated graphics on CPU overlock or CPU stock?

 

Awesome review. I hope to see more like this from you sometime. Maybe do an M15/17x just for the heck of it.

Edit: How does this thing fare in Sims3? With settings maxed out?

The 7 hour battery time was actually with the overclocked 1.6 GHz CPU. The overclock surprisingly adds no noticeable difference in heat.

 

what brightness was you screen set to and what were you doing for the 7 hours?

 

The screen brightness was set to about 2 notches up (2/5 bars)

Dalaran FPS is always a bit lower due to the servers capability to hold only so many people in one particular area.

 

Loved your review, gameplay + personal feedback = win review. A+ quality as well.

 

Just wow......there are a few websites that could take a lesson on how to do reviews from you.

 

Try reviewing WoW in dalaran that has lots of people !!
If you get 40fps outside, ull get 10 fps inside !

And no that is not a joke. Im sure it might be worse, due to the fact that with this processor you might get less performance especially with addons...

 

because sitting around dal counts? - it is a good way of pushing it, but youre better off with 25man content or even some more active bgs than looking at dal as your point of reference.

BTW, was I the only one staring at the pool when he zoomed in on the webcamera?

 

yeah man, we are still under snow here so the pool was a huge distraction.

Great review, although one constructive criticism would be to improve the lighting from the front of whatever object you are filming.

Unreal25 had a good point the brightness from the pool is over powering your foreground object (the laptop). You never want your background to take over your shot. It should accent and add to the shot.

Thanks for the feedback. I also noticed that while editing. The black on black of the inside of the notebook seemed to be hard to pick up by the camera in any environment I placed it in >_< Looking at picking up some better lighting for this kind of situation, as I only really use natural lighting for my videos at the moment.

Indeed, performance in Dalaran can be bad on even the best computers out there. More of a server issue than anything.

Dang...your video review just makes me want to pick this thing up. Good job. One tiny nit-picky thing I loved that you did was that you actually ran the Fraps counter as you were gaming. I hate it when video reviews don't do that, and you can't see the FPS for yourself. But you ran it ! This is one well-crafted looking machine and one well crafted video review. Again, Good job!
