the new alienware M14x, pictured side-by-side with an M17x for comparison, posted here...

WOW, there is a photo which means this should not get closed for speculation. I guess all the rumors turned to be true after all.
The M14X is very good news as the M11X was way too small for me but an M14X well might just make it... -
Ok there's an M14X... now I want to see the M18x.
-
At work right now. I'll have to look at this later...
-
This is great ! i would like to see a photo some time to compare it to the m11x size wise
-
I don't think that is next to a M17x R3. Looks more like a M15x as it hasn't got the new style lid.
-
yeah thats what i thought ! the m17x would have been alot bigger
-----------------------------------------
Edit
I really hope the m14x DOESN'T have a disk drive like the m11x... waste of space and its old tech -
-
Looks like I found my next laptop
14 inches is perfect for me. I loved the size of my envy 14 screen. The m11x is great, but its screen its just a little small for me for everyday use.
I wonder what specs they fit in that machine -
if it is the m17x it is next to , the m14x must be huge ! :S dam wish it was m13x
-
"M14 next to the M17"
The original poster a little down in the thread. -
Basically it seems that the M14X will be slightly smaller than the M15X. Wonder what type of battery and components will go inside.
-
Wow. I was getting my girlfriend ready for an M11x...
Looks like i'm gonna play the waiting game and see where this goes =D -
Technicaly this 14 is that, but I'm curious how much better it's battery life will be compared to the 15. -
Well the M17x R3 and the M15x don't differ too much in size in terms of chassis so we could be seeing a pre-production R3 that doesn't have the new style lid but the new style speaker grills.
In terms of specs, I have 2 versions. If I was Negatron: i7 2620m dual with 540m GT. Optimist Prime: i7 2630Qm with 555m GT. What do you guys think? -
I think it's your optimist option... even though it wouldn't be typical for Dell. Maybe they offer both of them, we'll see. However, a quad core is a must for this system.
I wonder whether there'S going to be a 1080p screen option... probably not, the pixel density of the M15x is already amazing imo. -
Well Sony have put a 1080p screen in their 13 incher but I don't think Dell would. I don't think they should even consider it. I think a nice 1600x900 screen as the max option. Would also help with gaming for the weaker graphics card.
-
That's a good point... fullHD needs much more ressources. Nevertheless I like high pixel densities
-
end of the m15x then?
-
Yeah I shed a tear.
-
And FWIW, I believe that is just the new M15x next to an M17x... the size looks very close to what I remember when I briefly had an M15x-R2 alongside my M17x-R2... -
please let the charging port be on the back [praying]
-
OH MY GOD! As soon as this comes out, I'm buying one and selling the one in my sig most likely.
This is THE laptop I've been waiting for.
I've been dreaming about a M13/14 for over a year now and it has finally happened.
Whats funny is that when I logged on these boards a few hours ago, I went directly to the M11X section instead of Alienware > M11X, and I felt that by doing so, I was missing something important. -
Aw! I just ordered the M11x a couple days ago. I had finally convinced myself to accept such a small screen on a gaming system for the trade-off of great portability. Considering canceling my order since it's still processing...
hmmm... what to do!
-
If you want to cancel it, the rumoured release date that a couple people were throwing around way April 21st, but don't hold me to that. -
Won't the M14x essentially replace the current M15x? It makes no sense to have 2 laptops within an inch of each other (And will likely have the same internal cooling capabilities.)
-
Wish Alienware would deviate more from the M17xR1'ish design they've stuck with for 2 some years now....
-
-
If this comes out, I might just have to sell my M15x....
Not expectin' any better performance, but man that looks a hell of a lot more portable that this heavyweight 15". -
Balls... why couldn't they have gone with a 13".
-
It looks like the M15X sitting next to the M17X to me...
-
-
why make it 1 inch smaller than the next highest model: the M15x? this is not worth creating another SKU.
-
Is that the real thing? :S
-
-
Looks good, but not going to sell my M15x. Dell commented that the size of the M15x is limiting in terms of heat (I'm pretty sure I read something along those lines), and I have no problems with my M15x's size or weight.
-
-
I guess they will discontinue the M15x and replace it with this M14x. In either case, it is big like a house and will not be portable like the M11x.
-
-
Yeah but me thinks that the M14x will replace the (and split) M15x customers. So satisfying the ones who want decent gaming prowess but smaller form factor. The ones who want better gaming can then go for the R3.
-
Yep. And I get that. For me personally, I was hoping for something else.
-
Nice comparison pepemosca!
Is there any documentation that there's an M14x out there? SKU? Labels? Or was that a guess on the size? -
-
Officially this is still vaporware...
-
but, still no m18x
the wait is killing me......
-
LamboFreak4ever Notebook Enthusiast
may be it is the new M15x!!!!
-
Well make sense, having to pick a model 3 inches apart from each other. Besides when i was ordering my m11x r2 with an alienware rep he did say that the m15x was the least popular product compared to the m11x and m17x series. Time for a revision?
