We offer AlienFX lighting across seven zones throughout the laptop including areas such as keyboard, touchpad and LCD edge.

The "light pipe" is somewhat misleading. The mockup pictures of the m15x with that thick light strip on the side is more than likely the result of photoshop. In real life, the "pipe" more or less resembles an LED strip underneath the crack where the top and lower edge of the lcd assembly connect. It has some mild separation that allows light to bleed through but it's not thick and it's not uniform. For instance, if you look at the light bleeding out from the side, you'll notice thin and thicker spots where the plastic connects closer together in some places and separates more in others lending a non uniform linear light distribution if that makes any sense. It still looks good and is by no means a big deal but just don't be expecting this thick light strip on the side of the monitor unless they've made some recent changes to the case. It's probably the least noticeable illumination area to me. Anyway, I'm not sure how they could improve upon it to be honest because I think I would complain if they had this big obtrusive light strip that jutted out from the side of the LCD.
