My AW M15X has c2d extreme processor X7900 2.8Ghz w/ 2Ghz of ram, and it was scored in Vista Home Pre higher than 5.0. However, after I reinstall the OS and reflash the BIOS, the score goes down to 3.8 for the processor speed and 3.9 for the ram. Does anyone know what wrong? I use the software called "cpuinfo" to check my processor, and everything is good. does the second BIOS flash make my processor downgrade? how can I fix that? Thanks!!!

Which BIOS version are you using?

Downclocking problems exist with BIOS versions prior to x34 for the Extreme processors.

I'm on x36 right now. I was on x36, and my score was 5.7 or something. when I re-flashed it w/ x36, the score went down to 3.8.

Just want to make sure of the following:

    1. You are on high performance
    2. Your computer is plugged in
    3. You are not on stealth mode

Please tell me you aren't using just windows index score to rate the performance of your system....the score fluctuates just about every time it is run. Please run other benchmarks and use other tools to make sure your system is running properly.

Yes, I already installed all the drivers and tools which it needs. Yeah I think Cha is right, stealth mode might lower the score down. I'll turn off the mode n run Vista rate again. Thanks guys!

Stealth mode underclocks the processor so that was definetely your problem.
