Alienware M15x India Buying details

Hi,this is my first post bcoz just now i'm planning to replace my sony Vaio with Alienware M15x

ok,first of all i want to know if "customize" option for Alineware M15x is available in India or just pre-made-factory model only.
I searched through Dell website and they didnt mention anything.
I called customer care and they gave price list but again they didnt mention if that specifications in quotation is customizable or not.

 

I know from personal experience Dell doesn't offer a lot of customization out side of North America and Europe. If you really want to customize the laptop, and get a better deal, see if you can order one from the US store and get it shipped out to you. Even though you will pay import fees, it might still be cheaper, and at least you will have the ability to fully customize it.

I got my Area 51 m15x from UK, and shipped it to India about 2 years ago. Much before Dell completely took over.
Call again and ask if the Indian guys can get a component change. They may do it for you.

you may also want to check ebay.com as some good dealers are even providing intl shipping. and it says "customizable"
Its easy than goin through all the risky procedure in the abv link.
make sure u check the feebcak of the ebay dealer before u buy (guess u no this.. unless u are new to ebay)

Hmm.. its a simple procedure..
go to ebay.com and search for "alienware m15x"
The 1st result i see has customize and international shipping.(priced around 2000$)
now if u are okay with the pricing and stuff..
click on the link.. and in the rightside theres the dealer info with how much feedback they got. Read the reviews for that dealer. and decide if he is reliable..
You can ask any questions that u have.. with him directly.
- Good thing with ebay is u can pay via paypal using ur credit card (there ll be some charge for conversion.. check it paypal)
-Ask the dealer wht ll be the other taxes u ll have to pay.. there should be some import tax and vat..

 

Compare the cost and specs of the model offered in India with those in Europe. The custom duties will be around 16%. If theres not much of a difference, go ahead and get it from UK.

 

Alienware UK used to ship notebooks outside the UK. This is not done anymore since Dell took over. You might be able to buy a M15x from one of the users here. I have seen a post couple of days ago somebody wanting to sell.

 

Yea, i guessed that. Anyway, getting a used/new laptop into the country via courier is a headache. Best option is to get it into the country with someone. That way you dont get hit by ANY custom duty.
