    Hi guys,
I am new here and I would like to do something pass the waitting time for my m15x (still 7 days to comes). Btw, I am a student so I can not offer a maximize m15x so I only got these:

    Intel Core i5-540M 2.53GHz (3.06Ghz Turbo Mode, 3M cache)
    3GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz - 1 x 2048MB + 1 x 1024MB
    15.6-inch WideHD+ 1600x900 (900p) WLED
    512MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M
    250GB SATAII 7,200RPM
    Primary - 6-cell (56Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery
    Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

Pretty the standard mode ( I only upgrade the core i3 to i5) but I rilli want to know if anyone know how well will this laptop perform on games (crysis 2, l4d ...) and do u think it is worth to get this? (mainly for study and gaming) and also everything elses about m15x and u guyz :D

probably you can't expect to turn everything up high always or run on max resolution. But I've been enjoying games like mass effect 2 and crysis on a lowly 8600GS - I just had to run at a low res. With your hardware I think you will still be able to enjoy new games, just not at "super high detail and resolution" like you can with the more expensive hardware.

The Core I5 and 240M are still powerful by last year's standards. Not top notch, but still good!!

Not sure about Crysis 2 though, it's not even finished yet!!

Cryisis 2 should run better than the first, there remaking the engine to be able to work on a 360 unlike the first which the 360 couldn't handle =)

The weak link there really, really is that 240M. You might be low on money, but seriously, save up that little bit extra for the 260M. You will NOT regret it.

As far as gaming goes, you'll be able to play Crysis on medium at 1600x900, or High at a lower resolution. Not sure how Crysis 2 will do when it comes out but it should play on your system, even on low at the very least.

It should eat every other game out there.

^^^ yes agreed, save your money for i7 and the 260m, if playing games at max is a concern.

that's why I was saying that the system above is adequate.. As said, if you NEED THE MAX and have the money, sure upgrade everything. If you have only the money for the above system you will still have a joyous experience!

Of course those with the 920 and 260 will say it's better. Of course it is! If you are too tight on money ask yourself if the 240 and I5 are enough - they probably are! For the same money you could probably get another machine with a better spec, but if the build and prestige are valueable to you more than the very-best performance I still think this laptop is a great purchase.

Not everyone needs the best performance and the battery life will probably be decent too. Much better than the I7 and 260 combo.

Just curious. Is the 9 cell battery worth it?

I guess you get 50% extra battery time (assuming the cells are the same in both batteries).

    You decide!
