Sounds like you need the redundancy of 2 PCs. Keep one for work and one for play.

I'd prefer a reliable laptop. I had a Dell M1710 for a two years and the things just ran problem free.

Oh.. i know. I have a dedicated gaming rig at home and i have an HP Pavilion dv9000 I can use as a backup. I just like to have everything in one place!
The only thing i play on my laptop is WOW.. i save the other stuff for my gaming rig.
So i just got off the phone with "Oscar" from AW and they're cross shipping a video card so i dont have to send it in for repair! -
Well i have intel SSD as a primary hdd for couple of weeks now, and never experinced any issues so far. the windows boot/shutdown down are fast and also the game loading times too are compared to the 320 gb 7200 drive

Well, I emailed AW, and got the following (despite them confusing my question about the M17 for the M15x). I think I'll go for the basic drive, and upgrade myself when I can get a pair of Vertex drives...
That said, sujaym has basically just confirmed the SATA-II support with those benchmarks.
Dear Alienware Customer,
Thank you for contacting Alienware.
In regard to your inquiry, the SATA controller on the m15x system is a SATA II controller. We use SSD units from known manufacturers like Samsung and Trascend among others, but we cannot guarantee which SSD brand you will receive as it all depends on stock availability and which manufacturer has ready to ship drives.
All SSD units offered on our systems have been tested and validated on our systems for best performance. Although you can add your own drives to your system, keep in mind that we will only provide support for parts we sell directly.
If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Milton Sanchez

So they upped my delivery date to today and they have confirmed that I am getting it today
This is also bad because I haven't ordered my RAM yet and I need 4 GIGS of RAM. Can anyone show me what kind I need and maybe recommend some places to get it? Thanks for the time. -
are you from the US of A, cAr0uS3L?
-
Yes, and I know that alot of people are going to say goto newegg but I'd rather hit up a store so I can get it today.
-
You need 2x2GB DDR3 PC8500/1066MHz 204pin SO-DIMMs
Such as these
As for where, depends what you have near by, but these are not commonly stocked by stores (specialist memory for latest laptops only), so I doubt you'll find them easily. -
oh, right. well then i haven't a clue where
you will need DDR3 SO-DIMM PC-8500 RAM with 204 pins. -
I knew I should have just had them install it!! Sigh.. haha
-
You can overnight it from the link I gave above for $16.99 to have it tomorrow by midday, and still save a nice chunk of change from the AW price...
-
yeah i have a problem with impatience especially when its going to be sitting around until I can get 4 gigs in it :/
-
ughh you can do plenty of things with 2 gigs i game on 2 since i haven't got paid yet.... fear 2 5 mins ago maxed out
-
i heard 64 bit vista doesnt work well with 2 gigs
-
and where'd you hear that?
-
it works fine trust me..... i have played fallout 3 grid WOW fear 2 crysis warhead all on 2 gigs and every one of them maxed out except crysis ....btw i have a 1440 screen if your wondering.
-
ok cool. everyone who has talked to me before knows how much of a noob I am with computers so I am just making sure I won't be disappointed. Tonight I want to open that sucker up and get installing and maybe get some WoW time in. I just want to make sure it will be running fast and it won't mess up when I install the 4 gigs tomorrow.
-
...WoW runs good expect triple digit fps on 1440 as for 1900 i think your lookin over 60 all the time so you will won't notice anythign higher any way.
good luck, it will run fine with 2 gigs 4 is just better -

I just ran a virus scan on my M17 using Avast! and I came across a warniing of a possible Trojan called OSCust.exe.
It is located in c:\windows\system32\oem.
After I looked it up I found it to be from AW.
However I'm not to sure and just wanted to ask you guys, Virus or Good? -
Found this for you:
