So I am a whitebook owner but interested in trying to obtain some parts from Alienware (well, originally from them, most likely through one of their customers ;)) to make my whitebook look more like an M17.

I already got the Skullcap Lid and the LCD bezel that sits opposite it, both AW branded. That's nice and all (actually looks awesome compared to the boring whitebook lid), but what I really want is the palmrest with the fingerprint sensor and touchpad - and I want it with the matte finish is the thing. Also want to try to get hold of that slim panel with all the touch buttons that sits above the keyboard as it also comes in a matte version for Alienware.

What would be the best way to obtain these parts? I have already checked eBay and no luck there. I just want to win the war against fingerprints on my laptop!

If anyone knows where I can get these (assuming AW wont just sell them to me directly haha) or can help me obtain them it would be much appreciated.

    Did you google "Alienware parts"?

A few companies will turn up like Ztronics. They have a lot of A.W. parts that aren't listed on their site so you should give them a call.

I actually saw that indicator strip a while back at Ztronics.

I got my spare lid from e-bay and plan to do a paint job at some point like Moo did. :D

Ya my lid was ebay, and it works great, was able to move the 2.0MP webcam and wireless n hardware over without a problem, the alien head is even lit up!

The strip with the power button, it isn't matte on the m9570 is it? Because otherwise it looks to be identical to the m17 one (same buttons). And I found them for sale but can't tell in pictures.

I am guessing this model is still too new to find a lot on ebay and at other places. Seems like most of the ebay parts being sold are bulk lots purchased at auctions for resellers.

He got an m9700(?) lid. They come in a few colors I believe, I like the black though, it's ominous. Really anything is a huge improvement over the plain flat and super glossy lid that came stock though haha

Yeah, the stip on the M17 and the M9750 are exactly the same.

I will be so happy if the power strip is matte :)

The palmrest will be MUCH harder to get though, as it has the fingerprint reader differentiating it from past models (and also making the part more expensive I will venture to guess).

After I get all this together, I could pass my whitebook for an AW as long as they don't look at the bottom haha

So I got the power button and audio controls part, $20 shipped (thank you ebay!) and sent a message to one seller who I have used a few times about getting a keyboard (they were cheap and the AW keyboard looks cooler than the whitebook keyboard haha)

Just leaves the plamrest/touchpad/fingerprint reader than my feaux (pronounced Fo) M17 will be complete
