Hey there guys, I've been working on putting together drivers for XP 64 so far i've got everything but 4 devices and could use some help to see what you guys think. here's the list of what i've got working so far:

    Bluetooth
    Sound
    Card Reader
    Touch Pad
    Web Cam
    Chipset
    Wireless
    PCI Device *Now Working
    Fingerprint reader Now working...sorta?
    Ethernet Controller *Now Working!
    ehome Infrared Transceiver *Found Driver

Here's the list of what i'm seeing left in Device manager:

5x Unknown Devices (These are on ACPI Compliant Embedded Controllers)

Okay all thats left is finding the Correct ACPI driver. everything else works great!

The only Driver Conflict I have besides the ACPI Driver is that the infrared drivers don't like to "work" I pointed the device to the driver folder and Windows found and installed the file by itself (I didn't have to force it) but other than that it's all gravy! I'm not big on remotes anyway so I'll just disable them.

The finger print devices works just fine, but the only issues is that it won't come up on the Logon Screen and i'm sure someone can fix that.

    ~Edit 1
Got the Finger print device working! registers my finger and everything, but wont come on at windows logon screen but shows up on the task bar. Any idea of how to get that going?

    ~Edit ?
Finally got the Infrared thing for the most part, Now I just need to find correct ACPI drivers =D

    ~Edit XX
Well I've finally got it up and going for the most part, the only problem is there's no way to get an ACPI driver on XP since it seems to be an Vista only thing but it only controls the touch bar and a couple of function keys, so I just disabled and let it go =D

the "infrared transciever" is the reciever that takes the signal from remote controls (which work over infrared ;)).

5x Unknown Devices (Probably all linked to 1 driver but unsure what)

card reader. all DELL laptops use the same reader

PCI Device (eh? Maybe E-sata?) correct

Problem is, is that the card reader already works. I got it working last night and tested it with some SD Cards so its a go, but still have 5x Unknown devices

Don't think so FN+F10 still scrolls through lights and such I think that's at a BIOs level?

I need to figure out how to get the Fingerprint reader to work and need to find the wired LAN driver.

On that note, I read that there isn't adequate driver support for the M17 with XP.

I couldn't figure out the last 3 drivers (LAN should be somewhat easy I just got lazy) so switched back to Vista Ultimate 64.

Im starting to think the 5x Unknown devices are a part of the touch bar

Out of curiosity, if I made an image of the Vista X64 support disk and posted it on, I donno, rapidshare.com, would it make people happy? (Interestingly, for whatever reason, they sent me two. Why? I don't know. I'm special like that.)

Christmas, u get all of the devices functioning without conflicts? You may wanna download the Intel Chipset, if u still have unknown devices. I think that may help you out a bit.

    Got most of em

the only thing is that can't get the Infrared devices to work w/out conflict.

The Unkown Devices are ACPI drivers that I searched FOREVER and tried at least 100 different ACPI drivers, but the ones that I can't get are Specifically Vista only from what I gather they are pretty much the Quick launch touch bar and some of the Function Keys :(

Well..your touchbar won't have drivers. It's just a registry entry. And, the Fnction keys are part of the keyboard, they won't have drivers. One sec..lemme look at something.

Ok, here's the list of vista drivers for the rig. http://www.ocztechnology.com/drivers/OCZ_17_inch_DIY_Gaming_Notebook__OCZDIY17A2/
This should give you an idea of what XP drivers are needed.

Now.. you shouldn't have much more than these to search for. But, your Intel Matrix Manager, Intel Chipset, fingerprint, camera, card reader, and lan/wifi, sound, and touchpad should be about all you need.

    hi bud

1 download the driver you need or want.

2 on the top of the page you will see modded inf file.

    3 download this

4 upon completed download, extract the driver ( i normally make a new folder on my desktop for this ) into this folder.

5 when you have downloaded the modded inf file, right click your mouse and scroll down to copy.

6 goto your new folder and you should have a load of file of the driver you downloaded. click past of this and it should pop up do you want to replace this file with the modde one clik yes.

7 in that bunch of file you will see setup in their somewhere click this and away you go!!!!!!
