I bought my Alienware M17X about 3 month ago and everything is beautyful. There was no problem after I upgrade to windows 7, everything was sweet.

Last week I got a copy of Dynasty Warrior 6, a PC port of the original game of Dynasty Warrior 6 of PS3, the Japanese name of this game is Shin Sangoku Musou 5.

After I installed the game and played it, I found out that my GTX-260 video card is not working for this game. Because when I play World of Warcraft, I can hear the noise of the fan. When I play Dynasty Warrior 6, my computer is quiet, and the game lags. But when I play World of Warcraft in Full Resolution, it was very smooth and I can feel that my GTX260 video card is working. When I play dynasty warrior 6, there is something missing.

So I came up with an idea, I tried to disable my intergrated video card and hope I can just use GTX260 instead of Hybrid-SLI. After disable my onboard 9400 and restart my laptop, I tried to run the game. It said that I can't run the game because the computer cant detect my video card. I then went to the device manager and there was an error on my GTX260 video card. I tried to install the driver from nVidia and failed. So I turn my intergrated video card on and found that the error on my GTX260 mystically disappeared. I also went to bios and try to disable my interrated video card there, but that option is greyed out, I can't choose that option.

I haven't tried other games yet, and since I didn't have the Dynasty Warrior 6 when I was using vista, I don't know if it's just the game or it's the problem of Hybrid SLI or it's the problem of windows 7.

Now I want to know that is there any way to disable my 9400 video card and just use my GTX260 video card as the default card. Thanks a million.

Do you have an unknown Coprocessor in device manager? If so, manually install the Nvidia Chipset SMU drivers for it, then reinstall your video card drivers (make sure Hybrid Graphics is enabled in the BIOS).

Actually I do have some unknow Coprocessor in device manager, but I already installed nVidia Chipset SMU drivers.

I am considering switching back to Vista and see if there is still a problem

Install the co-processor manually by locating the driver software thru device manager and it will show up in device manager

    To answer this specific question...

    Yes.

Go into the BIOS, Advanced, Graphics, disable hybrid and disable intagrated (I think that is what its called, it becomes selectable after you disable hybrid and is right under the hybrid option).

Make sure your drivers are upto date before making the switch though, or things get ugly.

Bumping an old thread, but I'm getting slightly better benchmark scores in 3dmark vantage (performance preset) with hybrid enabled.

    [email protected] - 4GB@1066 - (2)GTX 260 SLI

    9400/hybrid enabled in bios
    Score P11098
    GPU 9451
    CPU 23253

    9400 disabled in bios
    Score P11049
    GPU 9395
    CPU 23417

Is this to be expected? I was told that enabling hybrid SLI would negatively affect performance.
