it only says one year warranty???
the 260m sli is great but kills it
it says that you have to wait 4-6 weeks so i am guessing they put the order in with dell. still a great price though.

Usually when you buy a laptop from Sam's Club, they offer an aftermarket 3 year warranty, but remember also on *some* credit cards, they extend the manufactures warranty by 1 year. Also what is nice about Sam's Club is that can return a laptop / computer up to 6 months and they will refund your money. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

This seems like a really great deal, but does the included 260m sli ruin it that much. If you upgraded to 280m sli later on, wouldn't that save money? Or is there currently no way to get 280m's without buying directly through a manufacturer?

word on the street is dell will offer you the upgrade, since buying this machine will make you a dell customer

Forgot who, but someone earlier confirmed that Dell will also extend the warranty, which is better than getting the extended warranties from Sams Club or Best Buy.

The upgrade for dual gtx280m was quoted at $900 for the pair of cards I believe. This seems like a lot because you get to keep your GTX260m's. So if you sell them you will be set (although there is pretty much NO market for mxm 3.0 cards right now)

It's always better to purchase the unit from Dell/Alienware. When you purchase a Dell lappie from BestBuy, you are stuck with the Freak Squad handling your service. They do all the work - you have to drop it off at BB for service.

Sam's Club and Costco I'm not sure on - I would think the onsite warranty would apply, or it would be a 'send it in to the repair depot if the dell support tech couldn't resolve it' situation.

You can extend your warranty on a Dell purchase by using this link:

    http://support.dell.com/support/top...re_sign_in?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&~ck=anavml

This link has been intermittent for some time though. Most of the time it produces an error stating the store is not currently available and to please call Dell. Either way, it is possible to extend it out. When extending it out, I suggest getting a quote, having the rep save the quote and provide you with a quote# and then call back after a few days. Give the quote# and ask if they can do any better on the price.

Sams Club and Costco sell with a Dell warranty (1 year at Sams, 2 at Costco) , but if you buy their extended warranty, service is in their stores. Your link will get the warranty extended through Dell directly, a much better option. Had not checked on Best Buy or Microcenter.

That being said, then I guess how they handle it is the unit is shipped to the repair depot as they do not have a tech staff on hand to conduct repairs.
