    Hi all
Well its time to upgrade my P7811fx so I'm visiting the U.S in October for a holiday and was wondering if Best Buy actually stock the M17x in some stores or would I have to order online, Or if I could order through the store and collect from store (would rather get from store as I would be paying cash!) any pointers would be welcome!

I have heard it will be online-only for quite some time.

Once demand goes down and enough can be stocked, word is that is will be on shelves.

Well right now they're showing as backordered. Probably by October they will be ok, but when you put it in the cart, the option to "pick up at store" is greyed out, so you would have to have it mailed somewhere and pick it up. Check Sam's Club though and find a friend with an account or set one up while you're there, their deal is way better.

Like I said - online only. And the backordered status reflects the same delivery times as Dell. lol

It really doesn't make sense to order the BB version when you can get a better spec'd system for slightly more (or the same, IIRC).

thanks for the reply sleey0 have added rep, So its just a case of hoping and waiting that best buy in all there wisdom decide to stock this, but worst case they don't is it actually possible to order through a store have it delivered to store and pick it up from there due to my credit card being registered here in the U.K I can't order and have it delivered to my villa.

    Ah.. I see.

It's going to be a while (if ever) before these get stocked. You could call and ask if there is any way to place an order for pickup...

Doesn't matter where your credit card is registered. Plastic is plastic no matter what country you are in.

If it's a delivery issue you can confirm where you want it sent or add a alternate address with the credit card company before you order.

If you were planning on buying here and taking it back you will run into customs problems as well.

Never in all my dealings with Best Buy have I ever considered them wise or having any wisdom. They only stock the cheapest bare essentials for the masses who really don't understand what they are buying in the first place. All the important stuff you have to get it online like all the others like Tiger and Newegg who are much better than BB.

There is absolutely no problem with customs bringing a laptop out of the US!

I haven't run into problems taking a laptop out of the u.s yet (this will be the third year in a row i've done it) and I really don't want to buy an alienware over here as the same speced one as best buy is £2089 or if put into dollars $3468! So maybe now people will understand why I would prefer to just be able to walk into best buy and pick one up. I know best buy isn't all that great but its all i've got to work with! sorry if this sounds like i'm being rude and ungrateful as I am glad i'm getting feedback and suggestions and thanks to all of you who have commented already.

It wasnt the machine going through customs but the cash. You bringing in dollars?

The sad part like everyone is telling you, Best Buy will not have what you want when you walk in.

One way around it is if you have friends that you trust in the US to have the order shipped to? You just have the delivery address as theirs.

Yeah thats the problem I don't know anyone in the U.S, oh well I could always keep my fingers crossed and hope best buy have a funny turn and decide to start stocking in stores! but if not I might have to look at the new Asus' (G71 or G51) although I don't particularly want to!

I ordered through BB about 2 days ago. It's really not a bad build, you could always spend a little more for the 280s and upgraded screen. The screen I probably shouldve upgraded, it's the biggest difference.

But anyway, got an email from BB saying it was backordered. Which was what I expected anyway as they said 1-2weeks until delivery. So does anyone have speculation as to how BB deals with these M17Xs? Do they order them in bulk and store them in a warehouse or do they individually get them from Alienware? The reason I ask is because it seems silly to wait 1-2 weeks if they're sitting there waiting to be sent.

Or maybe I'm just impatient and excited. :D

Didn't look like credit to me.

    Whatever...

Best Buy does drop shipments to either the store or where you live. They are playing middleman in this and will never actually touch the product unless you pick up from store. They showcase the product hoping you come into the store and buy other stuff. They are no different than if you order directly, you are both standing in line waiting.
