    Hi, just got my Alienware M17x-R2 today.

    I tried playing MW2 (1900x1200), but recieve lots of flickering

    So.. i uninstalled the stock catalyst, then downloaded catalyst 10.3

    The 4870's driver version is 8.712.0.0

    Checked the Bios, and it is A02.

    Is there anything else i need to do to solve this issue?

    Thanks! :)

    Are you running a dual 4870 setup? Try to disable crossfire in ATI Catalyst Control Center and see if you still have the same issue.

    This could be the start of a long troubleshooting/replacement process. May want to contact Dell support and start right now. Waiting just makes the process that much longer.

    I had the same issue and went through 2 replacement video cards, 1 replacement motherboard, and now am waiting for my replacement M17x R2 system.

    Don't know if this is the cause, but my main computer is plugged into the same wall adapter as my alienware.

    Might this be the problem?

    I'm at school now, will test once i get home. Does anyone think that this is the problem?

    Ok, just reached home. Guess its not the power issue. Any solutions before i contact dell?

    EDIT: Does DirectX 11 got anything to do with it?

    Hi,

    i had a similar problem. You should try to reseat the xFire cable. If this not works the second card is probably faulty.

    Best regards

    there are two different flickering issues that could happen. one is solved with the A02 bios (thanks joker for the video) :

    width='480' height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mPzUSROu5WE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mPzUSROu5WE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='480' height="385"></embed></object>

    the other is solved by reseating the crossfire cable and if that does not help then by replacing the slave video card (Thanks SpinalGT) :
    width='640' height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vVvCtnNpGhE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vVvCtnNpGhE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>
