in your honest opinion what is better the m17x r1 or m17x r2. Yes i know the M17x r2 has i7,i5 processors, RBG led screen, and intel chipset instead of nvidia but is their really a difference speed wise. Cause i want to get a m17x laptop and im on a budget and i dont know what to get and i know m17x r2 is quite expensive. But if their is a dramatic difference between the 2 if so i will get the m17x r2 please help

If you are on a budget but want a R-2, why don't you try Dell Outlet for Refurb ones?

In every aspect, R-2 is superior. Processor, Screen, Graphic card, less problems.. I'm not so sure what you mean by "speed". Do you want something for multitasking purpose or gaming purpose?

No you can get it off the Dell Outlet, but I've only seen the core 2 duo M17x and the i7 m15x.

No you can call their number for a better accurate information. I've seen couple M17x-R2 and R1 as well as the M15x. R2 will be RARE though. Their match making system is a bit glitched up. Sometimes they don't list M17x or M15x on the option but you can change the Graphic Card option to 1 GB and you'll see alot more M17xs.

yes. there was an R2 when i called in. it was one with i5. i turned it down. It didn't have the RGB so i didn't want it. it's rare but there's one every so often.

R1 is Nvidia chipset. R2 is Intel chipset.
ATI GPUs will work in both R1 & R2; NVidias should work in R2 but I haven't seen a thread about it here (yet?).
R1 has an integrated video card that uses less battery when doing non-graphics intensive stuff. Better battery longevity as a result.
R2 has RGBLED screen (can retrofit one into an R1 if you wanted)
    R2 has i5 and i7 CPUs, R1 is Core2Duo
    R2 has more HD options.

R2 has all the latest and greatest. Outlet is def. the way to go on a budget for this.

Since currently the R2 comes default with a 5870m, it would be an excellent option.

The ONLY reason to get an R1 would be if the battery life is essential to you - and frankly that is not a good enough reason given the list of known issues and the fact that it is not as good in about every other way
