What seems to be up? I installed Windows Media Center 2005 and all the updates that are available and yet nothing seems to happen when I close the lid of my laptop. I have tried searching for a solution but no luck.

    help please?

My m9750 doesn't go to stand by mode either when closed lid it only *shuts off the screen light* im sure there is a way to change it to make it go to standby but all seems normal.

I don't know if you have Vista or XP but with Vista you can go to Control Panel-.Power Options and on the left side of the form is a
"What to do when closing the lid" item which lets you set either do nothing, sleep, or hibernate.

Hmm...might be a switch on the hinge that is defective, since you say you tried all of the software settings and the display doesn't even turn off.

It could simply be an issue since they replaced the screen . . . perhaps the sensor isn't working.

Thanks Chazzie, since they still have my laptop (replacing screen with better one, old one had alot of backlight bleeding) Although I hate how dumb the Tech support is... lol all people who came straight out of elementary English class... Hehe. I told them the problem after 25 minutes of hold, he tried suggesting the stuff I already tried, I told him just let the tech check it out. So hopefully I get my laptop back soon. They received it on the 24th. I just got my free 9-cell battery in the mail today.

I should be getting my laptop back with new LCD (again, one without backlight bleeding) and I think they fixed the lid problem. I'll update you guys.
