hi bros.
i just got an used M7700, actually this one looks like in new condition and comes with everything in original box.
all function works fine.
but only thing i don't know why, laptop can not read MMC, SD, CF cards.
Only PCMCIA card it can read.
Also, i could not call through microphone, i have to use headphone.
I don't know what is the issue with the holes for memory cards even if they still have the rubber cover outside. and all looks new.
and the microphone, what is the issue with that while i can hear music well.
The laptop is working now with Windows XP SP3. but not the XP SP 2 original comes with it.
I tried to look into Device Manager but all the drivers were installed well and it stated all working well.
I need your expert advice and what is the issue, how can i solve it.
Do i need to reinstall XP SP2 with original disk to check it?
Many thanks

it does have a card reader, right?
-
yes, built in 7 types cards in 4 holes readers.
but nothing happen when i insert CF, MMC, SD card into the hole -
If so, go to device manager, uninstall the drivers for the media card reader and reinstall them. -
actually no unknown driver is shown on the Device manager. But I will try and let you know.
I also called the seller, he said he never used that holes, I think so, because the holes look new. -
That's the problem then. You're going to need to locate the media card reader drivers.
-
but could you tell me exactly what and where Media driver and card i should do reinstall.
Because there are no UNKNOWN device on the Device manager as I see.
Everything stated that: working properly. -
Sorry, I thought your post said you had an unknown device.
Do you have a SD Host Adapters entry in your device manager?
Either way, I think you're gonna need to track down the media card reader driver somewhere, uninstall any current driver for it, and install the correct drivers. -
i tried to look at Device manager, scrolled down all things, but i don't see anything like that.
Actually, this M7700 has 7-in-4 cards, it means it has 4 holes for 7 types of memory card.
All of them don't play sound like "ping" whenever I insert the memory card into them.
But when I insert the PCMCIA card into the PCMCIA hole which is just above the CF card hole, the PCMCIA card reader worked well with a "Ping" sound.
Please help me. Is this software of hardware issue, because the holes look new and seller said he never use them, he use desktop reader instead. -
You are going to have to figure out it's identity in device manager.
I would be surprised if it's not listed, but if it is indeed not listed, you will still need the drivers for it.
Regardless of what the problem is, you need the drivers before you can proceed further.
It's likely a software issue, more specifically, a driver issue. -
there are no drivers that's needed for XP to detect the card reader in the Clevo D900K/T (aka. AW M7700).
make sure the BIOS has the card reader enabled. -
Hopefully that will work neverlostdata. If not, Ztronics has replacement readers for you rig for $24.95. -
so thanks two big bros.
it works like a champ now
i came to BIOS and saw it was DISABLE, that's reason.
But now I have a new question.
I see that the keyboard is a little bit curve higher in the middle of the keyboard, which is right at the key number : F6, F7, F8, F9, F10, F11 and F12. It peak at F9. Exactly it looks like a triangle angle there.
I don't know whether this is Original installation to make it match with the curve cover of the laptop on outside of the LCD, or this curve of keyboard is the result of heating for a long time since it was produced? or something that damage it like that? -
Hey, the thanks should go to gophn.
-
nope, two of you should receive my big thank.
because u spent time for me asap when i got issue, it help me feel VERY FRIENDLY here, and i love Alienware more than others brand, such as I got IBM, Dell, HP (HP so terrible service) and now my dream Alienware
Please tell me about a little curve of the keyboard.
TO be honest, it seems not a big deal to me, as I tried all function well now, and also, the battery is good for 1:30',. it is enough for a 17" and monster like this M7700 - Dual core 2.4.
I am so happy that, now I have a mouse, stereo speaker, laptop and a Sport watch - all named Alienware -
the speaker of this monster lead me to BIG BIG surprise, even if i tried to read review before, but i could not imagine that it is so true bass like that.
really love that speaker, even if at max performance without unusual noise.
if the M7700 is only 8-9 lbs, it should be a really mobile monster for everything else. -
If you need a replacement D900T/K keyboard I have three you can choose from. Send me a PM and I can sell one to you.
There is a metal panel underneath the keyboard, so if the keyboard is bent that metal panel probably is too. The metal panel should lie completely flat since the motherboard lies directly below it.
Also a fact you should know.
The media card reader on the D900T/D900K systems should be disabled before installing the operating system. This device is disabled because during the installation, the actual harddrive will become local Disc I or something like that rather than Local Disc C.
I also recall that leaving the media card reader Enabled during the Windows install leads to BSOD's and error messages. So simply disable it, and than Enable it after the installation is complete
