hey who remembers the alienware malx laptop? you know that single core 19 inch beauty made before dell?

well I may get my hands on one of these for the fun of it and was wondering if anyone else had this system and modded it with more recent hardware such as new ram, cpu, and ssd drive?

If I'm able to I want to make this thing semi decent for todays standards and would like to know if that is possible.

BTW, what's up with all your laptops labeled "deceased"? Tell the truth, what did you do to them? :D

I had the green one with nvidia 7950M SLi, 16:10 goodness.
Bought it second hand though since i couldn't afford it new.

    What are your plans, Ajbeagles?

they're all deceased from either motherboard failings or graphic card failings and dell/alienware replacing with the next one up

not sure, probably find a cheap ssd drive to put into it, 4 gb ddr3 ram, at least a dual core cpu and the graphics cards i can deal with for now, 2 7900 gtx go cards

you guys think a standard m11x motherboard would fit well in it? seeing as the laptop is thin I'm not sure personally.

I would change the original motherboard to the m18x motherboard and use the spare space to try that watercooling from asetek ;)

I almost bought one a couple years back for work, missed the sale and havent hardly seen any of these lately. i would like to see this and the M18X side by side, showing all angles.
I think that paint job looks awesome, black with the hologram.
