There seems to be a lot of misinformation on where all Alienware PC's are manufactured/assembled. Seems that everyone thinks their all made in China. That just isn't true. I've bought 6 Alienware PC/Laptops since Dell acquired Alienware back in 2006. My first being that same year & my last being this year(2015) in July & Oct. All of them without exception have been made & shipped from either Texas or Chicago in the US. From order date to delivery in North Dakota has always been less than two weeks. Generally around 11 -13 days in total. I am truly sorry for those having a difficult time getting their PC's. I just wanted some truth & fact out there instead of hearsay & speculation. I can't speak for manufacture in China, but if half the issues with delivery/operation/manufacture time people are having with their Alienware laptops that I've read about are coming out of China, then maybe Dell/Alienware should reconsider their out sourcing choices.

it depends on where you are living.
EU is serviced by a plant in Ireland....though that may have closed down.
Most of Asia Pacific including North America and Oceania are serviced by plants in China. -
They are made by Compal in China. This has already been confirmed in this community by members of Dell's Social Media team more than once. There may have been times that a surplus stock of them may have been stashed in the USA, but they're definitely not built or assembled here. Those distributed in the USA first go to a centralized distribution location upon arrival from China and have a FedEx label attached to them before shipping to the customer's door. The FedEx label will have a Dell USA origination address... often Tennessee or Texas.

China -> Mexico -> Texas -> Regional Distribution Centers -> Customer.
You don't get tracking information until it's in Texas or at your local distribution center. That's when it's "legally" shipped to you. It's this way because it's cheaper to ship to a port in Mexico and drive it accross the border to Dell's HQ in Texas than it is to fly it into the States directly from China.Last edited: Oct 14, 2015 -

so dell doesn't have the ireland plant. -
Nope... not unless something has very recently changed. Desktop are made in other locations, not the same as laptops. Maybe the desktops are made in Ireland... not sure.
I believe Alienware laptops that ship to UK customers may go straight from the Compal factory to the customers door, but North American destinations do go somewhere on this continent first, and then get shipped to the customer.
And, who doesn't remember this video showing the rough handling during the packing process?

probably cos they are getting paid a pittance and don't give a damn maybe....but hey that's how the world is: everyone can't be rich otherwise there wouldn't be any poor or working class people to do the dirty jobs.
oh how a job in a youtube channel would be a nice break.Mr. Fox likes this. -
I'm sorry, but I believe you are absolutely wrong about China regardless of what someone in Dell Social Media said. I have a nephew who works for FedEx that makes & takes deliveries from their site in the Chicago area. He has confirmed that it is not a distribution center. People do talk & like to be on friendly terms with those who bring them their goodies. On top of that, my last two Alienware's(highly modified from a standard config) shipped 2 days after I placed my order, from the Chicago FedEx center. It would be physically impossible for Dell/Alienware to put together my last two systems ship it from China, go through US Customs (an absolute rock bottom waiting time of 3 days minimum), make it to Chicago FedEx Sorting facility & then to me through various sorting centers on the way (FedEx shipments always seem to get hung up in Minneapolis or go to Montana then back here to North Dakota) and finally to me in just 8 more days. Unless of course Dell has a secret teleport system they use in China.

you're making an assumption/judgment based on partial evidence. your nephew is only a small part of that delivery chain and not the whole picture. if alienware was manufactured in the US it would be damn expensive than it already is.

It's like you know the length of a chain from only one link. But the reality is that you don't.

As mentioned already, if they have extra machines in a stockpile they don't have to start the journey from China at the point of placing your order. Their machines are mass-produced, not built to spec one at a time. I'm sure they could swap out CPU/GPU/drives, etc. if they needed to as well.
The person that said they are built in China during a conference call is Alienware's Lead Graphics Engineer in Austin, TX. The Social Media Rep was just confirming the accuracy of my regurgitation of what was said during the conference call. If you prefer to believe a FedEx employee over two Dell employees that live and work in Austin, that's fine. Between the engineer's statements and the video showing the assembly line in China, kind of hard to argue with it. But, honestly, what difference does it make? It's certainly not important enough to burn any calories on in my mind. On top of all that, being made in China when they were still offering amazing products did not make them any less amazing or desirable. -
I believe they would do the nameplate engraving in the US.
