It doesn't sound too bad. I've never got to try out an Alienware system before, but Paterson, NJ is still pretty far to travel just for a LAN party. There are giveaways for the first 500 people, so it might not be a complete waste of time. I wonder if there will actually be Alienware laptops there or if it's all desktops. Is anyone actually going?

    More detailed info:

"They may not be acting like an Apple store near you, but Alienware will be opening up its first store. A store in a store, to be precise. Alienware’s announcement came with a blessing from Micro Center, where Alienware products will have their own little shop.

For anyone near the Patterson, New Jersey store, I’d recommend checking it out, this Saturday (July 25th) at 11:30, if not to be one of the first 500 visitors who will receive a free T-shirt, bag and 8GB flash drive, then to see the latest Alienware products, play in a LAN tournament with other visitors and members of PMS clan, and just to hang out.

Players who do well in the tournament can also win an assortment of prizes, from games to PC hardware like keyboards, mice, headphones and speakers. From what we’ve seen of Alienware’s own lineup, that alone makes it worth investing a drive from Philly to get to."

Hmmm, my brother is up in that area. I could always take the car ride (~2hrs) from Southern NJ and check it out.

Maybe they will annonce a new m15x ;)? The m17x just got refreshed, and Alienware has called "All powerful" a lineup of notebooks. Plus, the m17x and m15x were revealed at a NY event when they were first announced.

The event is tomorrow. I don't think it's worth going. Is anyone going to be there? Some info and pictures from the event would be cool.

That makes it sound about ten times better. Did the extra info change anybody's mind?

There isnt a lot of room at the Micro Center to park and it can get rather ugly if they start parking on the highway that runs in front.
I dont care about freebies as long as I get a chance to see the products. And if they are gearing themselves to be an AW outlet I can wait.
But its great that they are coming here.

Here's a render of what to expect:

Alienware's desktop and laptop lineup will be there as well. This sounds pretty interesting. Maybe this is an experiment for Alienware, and if this does successfully, Alienware might do the same thing in a bigger chain (like those "mini Apple Stores" in BestBuy stores).

It's funny because this is bringing back LOTS of memories for me... lol

I am born and raised in South Florida (Broward County to be exact) and about 10-13 years ago AW used to sell products in Brandsmart.

I would go in there and play with the desktops wishing I could get one. I was only a teenager at the time (like 17 or 18 or so).

I think at that time they didn't sell as well. Very expensive systems! They were well known amongst gamers of course and they are a local company but I don't know why they stopped selling at retail.

Anyway, anyone who goes to microcenter please share some pics and stuff. Oh, if there are AW reps there please PLEASE ask about the m15x refresh and 4800's for the M17x (mad rep will come your way :D)

I would actually buy an Alienware phone if it could play PC games and actually fit in your pocket ;).

Dell has actually been great so far with Alienware. The extra funding let Alienware build their own systems, and Alienware hasn't been included as being under the Dell brand in most cases (i.e. seperate displays for Alienware and Dell computers). There hasn't been any Dell branding or obvious Dell influence, either. The m15x's build quality and consistency was pretty close to Dell's :p, but otherwise, Dell hasn't had an obvious influence.
