Alienware just made the Optx LCD available, and listed in their gear shop. This is not the bigger curved display, but the other LCD we have been seeing.

Could this be a sign of things to come?
a.k.a. keyboard/mouse/curved display
-
I think so, that looks like a rather nice pannel.
-
Nice.. I want one. lol
-
very nice indeed thanks for sharing
-
Yea I personally also think it looks quite sexy.
-
they never go half way on style
-
Yawn,,, Another TN panel
-
Basically. Still, if you like all things AW, I suppose it wouldn't be a bad purchase.
-
TN 120hz > ips for gaming...
But this isn't 120hz
-
Can't I trade my 22' Inch HP HD Screen with this?
-
So what was the point of your post? lol
-
I'm not sure about your model, (or whether you're dissing HP?) but HP has the lead in monitor screens with "DreamColor." Currently they're the only ones that offer this advanced--highly accurate color--technology on a laptop!
-
The point is that you say "another TN panel" as if this is the problem in this LCD what isn't really considering that TN 120hz is the best you can get in a LCD monitor for gaming ATM
.
-
Don't show me this, I might go and buy it. My wife will be mad at you.
Edit: and it's on Dell's site...coupon!
Edit2: $254 w/coupon. Think it's worth it? My current LCD is old (4 years) with no HDMI. -
To bad they didn't go 2048x1152 like Dell's 23" laptop.
-
I like the fact that this is a darn good monitor for a really nice price. Its 290ish on the AW desktop website as well...so you can add a really nice monitor with a new system without making it a whole second purchase. For a long time adding a nice monitor jumped the price of the system up another 400-600 or more.
-
I'll stick with IPS or PVA, thank you
-
Yeah? I'm writing it in a 32" S-IPS and you can't compare it to a TN 120hz when playing games. IPS is a much better panel but 60hz? pfff.
But you probably don't even know the difference
-
Ugh.. I hate when teenagers start to smartmouth on these boards.......
-
I hate when ppl start talking about what they don't know and run out of arguments...
-
know what i hate ?
fighting like adults n children
-
Do you guys think that in addition to Gaming (duh), this monitor will be good for CAD and PhotoShop work, and is it a good deal for what it is? I'd be cool for it to match my m17x.
But I really need accurate colors here and superior quality. I plan on purchasing a monitor calibrator as well.
Thoughts?
Piz n thanks yas! -
No.
Do yourself a favor and buy an IPS monitor. -
I definitely like my IPS screen on my Thinkpad but what does a 20"-25" IPS go for these days?
-
IPS screens r awesome... Too bad that i can't find a real 120hz 32" lcd tv or a ips 120hz monitor
.
-
Is it a good monitor for non gaming? I just video edit these days, some photoshop. Need a PC because my 6 year old Dell is starting to go on me, and I get the upgrade coupon for Windows 7 from now on with new systems.
-
So don't even bother with the AW then? IPS screen... any brands in particular I should look into, I heard Samsung are good, but I also wanted it to game on a bit.....
Thanks for the advice!
-
From what I read a while ago that was the real limitation with IPS so that's why AFFS+ was developed by Boe Hydis. See those advertised anywhere?
-
290 bucks or cheaper with a coupon sounds pretty reasonable for a 21.5" LCD with these specs.
-
IPS screens have much better view angles, more accurate colors, etc...
TBH IPS is the best you can get in LCD's for professional use but i prefer a TN 120hz than a IPS 60hz FOR GAMING (but a IPS 120hz would smoke a TN 120hz).
If u r talking about refresh rate... No, theres no limitation IN ips it's more about the cost i think (exist real 120hz IPS screen in 42"++ tvs... But that's way too big for my gaming style
).

-
TN 120HZ only exists in 22" and 1680x1050 ATM.
I'm waiting this asus since January... At least this have a HDMI port... 2233rz and the viewsonic need 2 dvi lol. -
Have you heard rumors on price?
On a side note, didn't you say you were going out of town? I think my 1066 memory comes in today. -
yay!

I wonder who's gonna look at the alienhead at the back of the monitor if your desk is up against the wall. Still, slick as hell monitor though.
-
No but 120hz looks to increase the price by $100 on tn monitors...
I would... But I'm waiting my cousin and she is 2 day late LOL
The wall of course.
-
I vote hanging a mirror behind the monitor so anyone can see it.. lol
-
