I have ordered this backpack with the M17, I like what a backpack has to offer if you travel heavy.
Anyone have one of these and if so what are your opinion's on it? good/bad
edit---lmao...I see that my order was placed for a "Mobile Bags: Alienware® Orion Messenger Bag"...either way what are your thought's on both...guess I can call and change the order...
Would have posted in the accessories forum but it is Alienware...

dont own either and not sure many here do.
did you compare what specs (messenger and bp) had to other brands like targus, etc... ?
from what i remember, the price to specs was not in favor of AW bags. -
yes, looked at North Face, eBag, Targus and others, kind of going for the Alienware theme I guess
-
I think its dorky looking, unless your really into space and aliens..whatever makes you happy
-
IMO, the bag is ok looking, protective enough, but it's just too thick to my liking. Oh and the smartbay pouches in the front compartment is too tight and you can't fit more than 2 smartbays in there.
-
Eh, I've heard good feedback about it but I personally wouldn't buy it. I honestly think it only makes your notebook more appealing to steal-- but hey, if you've already purchased it, I would keep an eye on the bag more closely.
-
for sure on that big O..
but if i had a choice or one was offered free (hint, hint AW Reps) i would go for the messenger bag....much better looking. -
Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
Would the messanger bag take either a m17x or the m17?
Mind you i'm still trying to find a decent cooling solution (not that I actually need one yet) for my m17x... Storage will come eventually, if nothing else to keep the dust away when not in use...
OB -
the best cheap solution for you. I just ordered a pack. -
i bought the ORION off ebay.
its actually pretty nice. i would recommend it -
I've got an Orion Backpack, it's nice, but could use more pockets, and I wish it could be expanded more so I could put more in it. It's not geeky at all, as the alienhead on the front is polished but subdued. It fits my m17x nicely... but the A/C adapter takes up a lot of the available space in the main compartment. I sometimes think about swapping back to my SwissGear Pegasus backpack simply for the roominess.
-
i got the orion backpack as well. its perfect for your laptop and protecting it but it is very big. if someone is looking at you from behind and your wearing it they will think it looks ridiculously big. i didnt realise it until i got my friend to wear and i saw that it does actually look pretty stupid on your back. but if you dont care about that then definitly get it.
-
It's not bigger than my Swissgear Pegasus backpack. Basically, any backpack that will fit a 17" notebook is going to be bigger than you think, but it's not abnormally huge... especially since it doesn't expand beyond the main and secondary compartment. It's actually smaller than a school backpack which carries books and other things.
-
I'm still thinking of buying one since my old dell bags barely work.

Thanks for all the info, looking like I will stick with the messanger bag for now. But some of these bags look like I may be better off getting instead.
