I just received my yesterday. It looks to be very well-built and well-thought out. There are so many pockets and compartments for different devices and purposes. All in all I'm very satisfied with it, at least for now.

Hmm, did you buy a counterfeit backpack? LOL... it's supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Maybe the person you spoke with is just stupid or lying to avoid providing the warranty. Look at the Dell website.

Well guess what guys..I did complain to Dell ..yet again, and 02 days later got approval for a new bag :),

However my 4th AW laptop has been returned for a total refund after 4 months usage, anyhow it's a good bag, trendy and practical may very well use it to transport my dv5t that had to come out of retirement (from htpc use) and the iPad

my alienware m14xr2 will arive in 5 days. i'm thinking about buying the orion backpack. i'll mostly use the backpack for school. How good is this backpack in combination with a laptop and books, is the laptop safe, or is something like swissgear more up my alley?

funny enough its cheaper to buy the Orion m18x backpack then the m17x one by 15 bucks usd or by $10 if you go for the camouflage version.

My, yours does have quite the set of battle scars, LOL. My Orion M18x backpack has seen a year and a half of heavy travel and shows very little evidence of wear.

It seems to be a pretty good bag. I have one too. The messenger bag also seems to be good. No complaints so far

I had to deal with a rather grumpy flight attendant. She was unimpressed by me being delicate with my overhead luggage and decided to take it upon herself to just shove my backpack in...removing two thick stickers and scratching the heck out of the alien head. I'm not too fond of US Airways anymore.

I fly US Airways more than any other airline. I think they all have employees with attitude issues. All large companies have a mix of bad apples in the barrel. It's unfortunate that she screwed up your backpack. I would be very upset by that, too. The airport baggage handlers are even worse, and treat everyone's belongings like a bag of trash. It's a real shame they have no respect for the property of others, and it does not help matters that they have zero accountability for their acts of vandalism... which seems to be too common among government employees, unfortunately.

I did not say all, Brother Slim. I would never stereotype everyone that works for the government that way. However, if all government employees were as awesome as you are, the world would be a much better place. In particular, our soldiers and ex-soldiers working in military support roles are a cut from a different mold... and, for their service I am most appreciative. Hopefully, most of them are finding much better careers than being an airport baggage handler. Although, based on the amount of damage inflicted on my luggage, I would swear that most of the baggage handlers are former demolitions experts.

Thanks for a great review, Tristan!

Someone earlier suggested putting a layer of clear coat over the alien head to mitigate scratching. I'd like to know if anyone has done this that could report back on it's effectiveness.

Hey, just appreciate that your not dealing with Australia Post, its a saying here, "Do not mark your parcel fragile, unless you want aus post to play footy with it..." I have had parcels sent by express post platinum arrive a week late (which are supposed to be delivered next day 9am) and come with shoe marks.

Few months back, I went to pickup my shiny new phone from Aus post depot and saw first hand, how fragile parcels are dealt with. A guy standing on the end of the line, scanning the parcels and throwing them 10 feet away into a van and these were phones sent via phone companies to customers. Just imagine, if I order a new iphone5, it will be delivered to me with impact damage stickers activated.

Don't even get me started on aus post guys driving like idiots and having unsecured parcels all over in the back of vans/trucks.

heh I bet its not much different here in the united states. If it doesn't belong to them, they will treat it like garbage just because they don't care. :(

I have biked a lot with my Orion backpack with my m18x in it and I have never experienced water inside. That being said, I do not know its capacities, like how many milimeters of water it can repel pr hour.
But I have biked 45 min i heavy rain, no water inside.

Actually the delivery men belong to outsourced companies (Auspost) my friendly post office told me when I complained they weren't even attempting to deliver packages just stuffing a card in the mailbox and leaving...4740

But apart from a Mac mini whose box seemed to have been compressed every package I have had delivered seems to be in excellent nick

I am a happy user of the Orion Backpack and i must say IT IS AMAZING.

The quality is outstanding and i have plenty of room for everything.

I keep my laptop, charger, headset, scredrivers and paste, cloth, headset, mouse, mouse pad... Everything in that backpack.

    Simply amazing <3

I just ordered a M17x from the outlet, and I am thinking of getting this backpack. Does anyone know if the new special edition camo backpack is the same (padding and protection etc) as the other M17x backpacks?
Is the newer model as good as the older model?
Here is a link to the new camo pack that I am thinking of getting:
Mobile Edge Black Alienware Orion Tactical M17x Backpack - ScanFast Model AWBP17C - Newegg.com

    Thanks,
