Just curious, has anyone here in NBR used these Ozma 7 Headphones from Alienware? Alienware no longer seems to sell these in their store ( Only Ozma 5's are available ) Are these headphones any good?
I've checked out Alienware's Ebay outlet, and wondering if it's a good buy at that price.

And finally would it be a good idea to buy refurbished headphones?
-
They are just re-branded headphones apparently and are not worth the money. What you really need to do is go out and put on different pairs and see which ones your like.
For example I have the turtlebeach earforce X1's for my 360 (so I can play at night). However, keeping them on my ears is a pain compared to my Bose Tri-Ports (the most comfortable pair of headphones I've worn in awhile). -
I am using Sennheiser 485's right now..and they are nothing short of amazing. They have really good sound quality and are better than my bose in-ear headphones. I highly recommend sennheiser and this specific model, and its only 70$! http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227065986&sr=8-1

Thanks for the quick reply guys
I will be checking out both of your recommendations as well.
There are very few stores here locally that have demo units of their headsets for the customer to try on. Hence why I needed people's feebacks when choosing to buy a headset. -
For a hundred dollars, get the audio-technica AD700. Great soundstage for gaming.
But if you want to go Sennheiser, definitely skip the 485's (not great) and go for the HD555. -
i do have them. They are pretty nice and the surround sound feature is kinda nice. However, they were given to me.
-
Lol. Every headphone with a surround sound feature sucks.
-
Leon, I'll try and see if Audio Technica is available locally, and if I can try em out
I do believe Senheiser is available in some stores here, will also check out the HD555.
Packer, wow someone gave you an Ozma 7 as a giftIs it comfortable to wear, even for longer periods of time?
-
Oh, and check out Head-Fi.org for headphone stuff. Best headphone forums.
-
headphones are even more difficult to give either positives or negatives about as each pair (regardless of brand name) will sound and feel quite unique to each person as we all are different in body composition and hearing.
-
-
I understand, but checking out people's recommendations does narrow down my choices
So far, seems like only Packer has tried the Ozma 7.
How about headphones with mics? Any good suggestions on these? Razer Piranha any good? -
ok...
i have Bose tri-port and over the ear headphones. i use either one for gaming if i feel like not talking in Vent.
i have logitec mic and phones combo and they do an awesome job for the game and Vent...
I mainly use the Bose for music and movies though.
while the logitech set is less comfortable then the Bose, i get more involved in the game then comfort and do not realize until i am done gaming for the session. this is not to say they are not comfortable, as they are, just not as much as the Bose. -
Thanks for the input ryujin
I've been browsing around the net and it seems like of the most recommended headset is the hd555 from sennheiser. It is available locally here too, the only thing that concerns me is, if I read it right, that it lets sound out.
Haven't heard much about the Ozma 7 though. Seems like only Packer here in NBR has tried one -
no worries...
sorry i can not be of better help in the Sennheiser and Ozma realm... -
No problem ryujin, any help is appreciated
Googling sennheiser hd555 got me a lot of good reviews. I would just like to compare em to these Ozma 7's. Guess not many people here bought that headset -
As I said before I THINK that AW just rebranded the headphones. Look around I remember reading this somewhere. It might have been the 5's but I'm not 100% sure
-
Ahh found it. It's an Ultrasone HFI-700. Thanks for the tip Stone.
Seems like this headphone also has a lot of good reviews. I do like the color combination of the Ozma 7's more than the HFI-700 though. Anyone else have had any experience using these headphones? -
Ultrasone has new headphones out now so you might wanna check them out.
Also: Everywhere I read says they are good headphones and I just saw them for $250 on another site (the ultrasone version). I say yes to them now as the price is good. I just finished playing Insurgency with my Tri-Ports and I love them so much -
$250? Wow, they charge even more than AW?
Found another one on ebay, this one is brand new.

If you don't want them to leak sound, grab a pair of the audio-technica es7 or the denon d1001/d1000.
-
if you have the money, bose on ear is the way to go!
-
Yeah I have a paid of Bose QC3, and they are amazing.
-
-
I'm still a fan of the Tri-Ports. The QC2 and QC3 just weren't for me.
-
I tried the QC2 and the QC3 at the Bose store and I absolutely loved them.
Yay for post #800! -
congrats.
out of interest, why are you guys buying headphones, and not headsets? -
-
-
Headphones, from what I know, give better sound quality than headsets. As I would be using it for my movie/music listening as well, the headphones seems the way to go
-
about the whole "superior sound" thing: too bad the sound is coming from a (rather crappy) integrated sound card... which makes high-end audiophile headphones quite a waste. -
but in all seriousness. headset-headphone speaker quality (the headphones in headsets) is usually rather low....
So if you're just listening to music, it's the clear and obvious choice to get a quality set of headphones.
Myself, I like earbuds, you just can't beat the portability... but most sets sacrifice a lot of low end for being so tiny (and usually inexpensive)... though, I've found a few I like...
For around the house and serious movie-watching, I have a set of Technics RPDH-1200's connected to my desktop. -
OMG. If you guys are talking about Bose headphones. I can't help you. They're the most overpriced junk ever. Try a pair of Koss KSC75's for $5 and you'll see what I mean. They're better than the Triports.

I've read around the net and it seems the Ultrasone HFI700 does have a lot of positive reviews. Seeing that the refurbished price from the Ebay outlet is pretty reasonable, I might go and give them a try.
Leon, yeah I found Bose to be quite expensive as well. Though I can't attest to the quality, I was able to compare Bose and Sennheiser headphone prices here locally, and clearly Bose was a WHOLE lot more expensive.
Oh, and another question. Do most headphones come with adaptors to fit into laptops and other mobile devices? If not, how much would these adaptors usually go for? -
some will have the adaptors, and some not. Just need to check the inof on the package. And it varies so much that it could be hit and miss...even with same brand units.
if they do not, most places that sell the headphones(sets) should have the multitude of adaptors available there.
if not - newegg, radioshack, and the like.
but in the Phils, I am not sure where one would go. -
Bose for the price are horrible headphones.
If you can get them dirt cheap, (90% off) then they're not too bad. -
Just an update:
I already ordered the Ozma 7 from ebayWas able to lower the price to $100. Shipping it over here would cost about $20, $120 seems to be a good price for these.
I'll let you guys know what I think of the headphones when I get em
Again thanks for everyone's help and suggestions -
Another update:
Just got the headphones today, and they are great. Very comfy, a lot better sounding than my old headphones, and it looks great too
I was worried that there would be a problem since it's a refurbished unit. Happy to say, it looks good as new
