My new M15x power button light will not stay lit, it won't follow the light scheme. It sometimes works but then goes out? Anyone else seeing this?

    First try a hard reset:

    1) turn off pc
    2) unplug battery + power cords
    3) hold powerbutton for 10 seconds
    4) start pc.

If that doesnt work, the ribbon cable may in fact be loose. If you are somewhat tech savy you can repair it yourself. Its not difficult, its about 4 screws and a bit of gentle prying (with fingers) and you will get the media panel. Here is the service manual for a detailed instruction on how to get the panel unscrewed.

if you feel you cannot do this, call alienware.

You can also try reinstalling the alienFx and change the theme.

I am currently having the same problem as well. I upgraded to the newest AlienFX firmware, but when I heard all the issues everyone was having, I downgraded back to the older version. Ever since then, my Alien head on both the front of the laptop as well as the power button turn on from time to time. Sometimes it does not turn on at all unless I turn off AlienFX then switch it back on. That is the only solution so far.

Edit: oh, and another thing, sometimes when I access Command Center, and choose AlienFX, it freezes on me. *sigh*

This happens if you don't have the alienfx software installed. it seems like rebooting the computer, the alienfx software has to tell the heads to turn on.

basically, they need to release new firmware for the board so that the colorscheme you choose persists even if you remove the alienfx software.
