When I play any type of videos on, I get a weird static sound that can be very loud sometimes (depending on what the volume level is). Anyone got any idea on what this could be?
More than a static noise it seems like some type of sound issue, like the sound will hang up for a second or two...
This thread seems like to explain my issue better: http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/alienware-m17x-owners-complaining-of-skipping-stuttering-audio/
Thanks.

Every M17x has that issue.
Dell is working on it. Estimated fix date: TBA.
Quick fix:
Try to use only integrated graphic card to see if it works then:
Try to disable PowerMizer (Panda's solution) -
Ah, I thought it was just me!
Good thing everyone is having this issue, I thought this issue was fixed, oh well, hopefully they are still working on this matter.
Not sure if a simple firmware upgrade will do the job. -
Ive been having the same issue also...very annoying. I also cut down my start ups and services also.
