    Hi Darthmaniac,
You should be good to go on all the high end games. I can play crysis, fallout3, UT3, Far Cry 2, Last Remnant, Call of Duty, and many others on just the 260s. You're system will be even better off.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Thanks GabeZ, however I've been searching the net and I come upon some comments that High end games like crysis don't play too well on quad core processors. Also I HAVE THE 280M( not the 280). Please help
    Regards,

Incredibly great system, about as good as it gets! You should be able to play next years top games at max settings.

Are you kidding? Crysis is optimised for quad cores! It'll run far better on a quad than a dual core. SOME high end games would run better on the dual core processors, however that is only because the dual cores are slightly faster meaning better performance in games that will only use 1 or 2 cores. This is well made up for by the fact that you can overclock the extreme in the bios. The QX9300 should overclock to 3.06GHz or even higher, and there are few games in existence that won't run well on that.

it's true that a quad will not bottleneck your GPU... if you get a lower quad like the Q9000 @ 2.0ghz sure... but that's an easy fix as even that quad is easily OC'd to 2.4~2.7 with little to no problems.... and then wallah no more bottleneck

yeah those specs will go above and beyond for performance. There's not any higher, i don't think and I believe your gaming experience will be fine with those specs.

Hey everyone I'm going ahead and buying that laptop, and now my brother has got after my parents to buy an alienware M17x too  However his budget is lower than mine :). The laptop he wants to buy has these specs:

Operating System- Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit) + Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade Coupon

    Processor- Intel® Core™2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

    Memory- 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz

    LCD- 17-inch WideUXGA 1920x1200 (1200p)

    Video Card- Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled

Hard Drive- 250GB 7,200RPM w/ Free Fall Protection

Will this system also be able to run crysis and other high requirement demanding games on high if not maxed out settings??? Will these specs be enough to play games at least for the next year or two??? Also will I want will I be able to upgrade my processor and graphic in the future???
    Regards,
    Darthmaniac

It's a good config too and will be able to handle the new games. If you want to save a little (or spend in a better HD) you can drop the 1333 ram and just stay with 1066 :) (no performance penalty).

It should be able to handle Crysis on high without any problems at all.

Yes you can upgrade the processor in the future if you want, to one that uses the same socket, you can also upgrade the RAM in the future to 8GB when 4GB moduals come down in price, and you should be able to upgrade the video cards to any MXM 3.0b model when they are available.

Ram yes, proc yes, graphic yes IF they release a new VGA compatible with M17x (probably but no one can be sure :p ).
