    I have customized a $1650 alienware m9750.. 1650 - remember that
The specs in PERFECT condition (granted, it would still have been used) plus the $200 alienware trade in, you would get $500 for it.... that's 3x overpricing from alienware....

Well, if you are talking about what I think you're talking, trade in is probably Alienware's way of saying that you should recycle. And you get payed for it. Sounds like a good deal, most companies just offer to take in your old stuff for free (as is the law in some countries).

Recycle? you think Alienware is going to recycle your old system? they'll buy it from you for about $500 then sell it on their ebay store for like $1000
they make money both ways by sellin you a new system and selling your oldsystem aswell. One thing for sure is that atleast their not the only one doing it, Look at Gamestop they sell you a game for $60 then 1 week later you trade it in and get half that if lucky, then you'll see for sale the next day for $55 dollars.I think you should just do like i do if your going to lose some money
atleast sell it on your own to some one that actually be willing to pay for it. if your system cost $1650 maybe put it up for sale for $1000 that seems fair Right?

I'm pretty sure everyone knows that trading in is the worst idea ever. If I took my $3000 laptop I would get around $600 for them, which they would then go on and put a $1200 markup on it and voila it is on ebay.

I don't think anyone here has even considered it.

Of course I am, if your system is still good you should sell it yourself if its in bad shape you should recycle it. And if your system is recycled a company can decide to pay some guys to check it out do a bit of repaint and sell it off refurbished. Compared to any other company I know their trade in is the best, most of them dont offer any money at all for the old systems. They just pay you the shipment and the recycling fee.

well IMO, and probally the majority of everyone, it stinks. you got to keep in my mind that you can always get some cash for a laptop. they dont even accept non working laptops, i tried. they also take new gaming consoles and stuff. stuff that you could get hunderds on ebay for you can get maybe get 20% of that on alienware. im all for recycling. cans and cardboard, not working laptops.

Buy a brand new xbox 360 game. Trade it in at gamestop or ebgames you get $15 and you paid $62+ with tax. Getting **** money for trade ins isn't new news and the idea was not invented by alienware.
