ok ok, you're not seeing things, its $1499 on the buttons before, but the configuration page still starts at $1799.

ok another minute later the configuration page is $1499 now too :/. cool.

I just want to share out the find outs, sorry if they taken that back. Hopefully any of us see it before it's gone (or perhaps order now before they taken that back!)

*don't tell me this is the announcement that Packer meant to tell us.

Might as well get a Vostro or XPS m1530 if all you're going to spec it up to is a T7100 and 8600m GT.

I was noticing this a little while ago - the page is flipping back and forth. Sometimes, you'll get the $1,499 base, other times, the $1,799. Rather irritating at the moment, actually. ;)

Nope, it means 1499 starting price so we have more options to choose (maybe those who use more CPU power could get the new Penryn proc. or if you are on budget u could go with 2.4 4mb cache).

So that's the point of that. I bet no enthusiasts will go for the basic price but maybe those who looking for 8600m gt like u said and wanted the AW look, could "waste" their money on that config perhaps.

Thanks. I don't think that this is the announcement that Packer meant to spill the beans on.. ;)

Hmm, my order is in stage 5 atm, my original schedualed shipping date was april 25th... now the shippin date is april 17th... (for the 1499 config..) should i cancel and reorder? i can save 300-400 dollars too.....

however i don't want to risk it going into may, because i need the system before then...

could they adjust the price/my order or will i have to cancel and re-do it?

Hard to say. What I've read so far on this forum is that a "price adjustment" = cancel and re-order on their end, and your order gets pushed back.

General pricing has also changed, btw. For example, the difference between the T8300 and the T9300 has gone from $100 to $175. I'm sure other things have changed as well. Which is in line with what jl1989 was noticing (about saving $300-$400).

saving a little from those, the most savings is from being able to 1gb and 120gb instead of 2gb/160gb

Wow, $1600 for an 8600M GT and a 2.4GHz Penryn. Nice. I might've gained some respect back for Alienware's pricing, but I could get a M1530 with better specs for $1300 (with coupons), but this a great deal. I'll probably buy one at the end of the year, then eventually upgrade to an 8800M GTX or 9800M GTX. Nice going Alienware!

That's because it doesn't come default with Alienware's overpriced upgrades (RAM, HD, etc.). Same price as before, it'll just be much cheaper if you know what you're doing.

I'm thinking about returning the M1530 that I bought, specs are in my sig, and getting the $1499 model alienware. I paid 1400 for the config in my sig.

    Is this a good idea?

It depends which one you want. If you're into heavy gaming and want to spend more, get the m15x.

Yeah, I saw that but it only has a 1.8 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, etc... I ordered mine the 26th of March and I'm on stage 6 right now... dunno if it's going to be before or after the estimated shipping date though.

I would prefer having my 2.5 GHz processor than having the 8800 card and whatnot because I won't use anything less than a 2.4 processor let alone less than a 2.

Good for people who just want to get the laptop cheaper though I guess.
