There should be an thread for these things.
It would be great for possible overclocks, card swaps, ect.
The info extracted from them could be used for overclocking, compadibility,
and other things smarter people than me will undoubtably add.
Mb bioses are also needed, a quick google results in much of nothing.
Main card, daughtercard, who really knows? Obviously both mxm, when swapped, do they still work? If not, could a reflash cause them to be swappable?
I'll try to keep the links updated below.

yes you can take a slave and flash it to master
you can flash a 280 to a 260 or a 260 to a 280
as long as they are the same card it will work (nvidia's usual)

Thanks, I kinda figured it out after reading some of the troubleshooting info later that night.
I'm really excited/new, to this 9750 platform I just bought. I would like to gather gpu bioses, to see what the slave/master diffrence is. I just bought a new 8800mgtx to try, (its in the mail) and the comparison info would be helpful.
Will it work? Make guesses if you like, I'm just going to slap it in and give it a try, based on the fact its a type three HE, like the 7950 is. I don't know if anyone else has tried one yet, but google nets nothing, but alienware rumors, and theories. If it works, I'll of course be going with another card for sli.
[sidenote]
I'm going on leave in November, so I'm having everything sent to my house. Army mail takes up to a month and i don't want it here in a box(Iraq), while I'm home. (to make things worse, my unit and i are moving to another base right now) Because of that, I wont have results untill november, I read about a duel 3650 install in a m97XX series, so I'm verry optomistic.
I know I'm putting way to much cash into this aged platform, but I want something diffrent. I've also never been able to afford an alienware, and still can't afford a new one. This is also a chance for me to build a one off laptop, which is fun. I built my own 260sli desktop for $1k, it works well and scores 13K+ in 3dmark06, with a crappy phenom 9600 no less. ( processor came with the am3 board, package deal, upgrading later) I also managed to flash my G50VT-X5 9800gs to a 9800gts, that was when I started getting into MXM. I feel confident in my skills. However, I've only been heavy into laptops for the past two years, so I'm still learning, and verry excited about the way MXM has been shaping up.
{back on topic}
Please feel free to e-mail me any extracted bioses and I'll try to compile them at the top of the list. I have read alot of "I swapped/flashed this card to get my laptop going again and didn't backup my slave bios", so this could potentially be a helpfull thread too. : ) -
If you're trying to get the best out of your M9750 then go for two ATi Radeon Mobility 3870 cards. They will perform the best in the laptop and are confirmed to work, although they do run hot.

[off topic] {skip if your not just really bored}
The 3870s do sound nice, but there is no crossfire support with the 9750s chipset, if I understand correctly. I ordered the 8800gtx a couple days ago anyway.
I must have bored everyone before they got to reading that part in the long post above lol!
I'll start another "yay me", or "I'm an idiot" thread when I test it out. I got some thermal mods in mind, should be cool. -
These are for the Alienware M17 ONLY:
I accept no responsibility for any damages.
The B13 Bios in mainly intended to provide support for 8Gigs of memory in a M17 with a 64 bit OS. To a lesser extent, it also provides greater system stability to help correct stuttering issues sometimes experienced with quad cores.
This is what is posted along side the new BIOS at the Alienware site:
M17 Bios B13
This BIOS image update is presented in a Nero format, and may be used to create a bootable CD-ROM with all the necessary files to flash your BIOS. Apply this update ONLY if you are experiencing problems with your system.
Before you run the BIOS update:
* Make sure that your computer has the battery and the AC-Adapter connected
* Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer
* Do NOT turn the computer off during the BIOS update
* Do NOT restart the computer during the BIOS update
* Do NOT eject the CD-ROM from the drive during the BIOS update
CAUTION: Improperly updating or flashing the BIOS CMOS chip on a motherboard can damage it to the point of rendering it useless. Accordingly, you should perform this BIOS update only with the assistance of an Alienware technical support agent. Performing this BIOS update without such assistance will void your system's warranty.

The B14 BIOS allegedly was designed to fix the Quad Core stuttering issue, but was met with limited success:

Use the OCZ .28 BIOS if you want to OC your Extreme processor. You will lose the ability to use the AW Command Center, and you should flash back to an Alienware BIOS prior to any warranty work being done to avoid negating your warranty.

I also have the ATI Mobility HD 3870 Parent and Daughter BIOS' but have no ability to host them. -

Therefore problem solved. Ichimes has worked crossfire on m9750 and it works. -

Granted it's not going to be apples to apples becuase of processor, memory and chipset diffrences.
I never said the software crossfire didn't work. I did say "but there is no crossfire support" meaning you cannot utilize the motherboard's chipset. That being said, there isn't alot of CF vs SoftCF datta out there. The example I could find only shows a 2.1% improvement, physical, over software. http://www.ocworkbench.com/2007/amd/catalyst-7.10/b3.htm apples to oranges.
ATI is great, but I have a hard time finding the 3870. I bought my card for $250 new, which will be a steal if it works with the 9750. (hurry up November)

Where you the one to buy the only HD3870 card that was available on ebay last week?
