Dear Folks;
I intend to buy a new notebook, I am confused between Sager and Alienware.
The machine will be used for moderate gaming (such as World of Warcraft), and some regular office works. what I need to know is about the quality of performance and also the durability too, bcz I dont want to go back and forth with unpleasant tech support or customer service. Maybe it is usefull for additional info, I live in Indonesia, where both reps are not available from my country.
My dream laptop have;
Intel T9300
NVDIA 8800M GTX
Nice quality of sound from built in speaker (bcz I will move around a lot)
if possible 15" display with WUXGA
Additionally, some enthusiats give recommend for taking M860TU, but the problem is nothing to read about or to say about this item, bcz it is not released yet.
Really thxs in advance for your opinion and help.
Regards;
Note; I have realized that I make double posts under Sager forum and Alienware forum, but I have the reason to do that, I need some opinions too from Alienware users beside Sager users, in order to make wise decision before I make a big mistake by throwing away thousands of dollars to bad thing. Again thanks for understanding. And apologized for long reading.

well, if those are you dream specs, i'd wait a week or two until the new clevo M860TU comes out. it will have the 8800m, intel CPUs and a 15.4" display. when it's out, read the tests and reviews, and then make a decision between the alienware m15x and the clevo m860TU.

Welcome to the forum Howard,
As Sager M860TU is not released yet it is impossible to compare the two machines. If you have to get a new computer right now and it has to be 15" and have a 8800 get the m15x. Otherwise wait for the M860TU to come out and for people to have time to test the system.
All we can say right now is regarding the m15x which has several problems and the speakers are reported to be very bad, most notebook speakers are of poor quality but m15x speakers are supposed to be worse than "normal". Then you have surely read about overheating issues etc.
Everyone here will tell you to wait for the M860TU and see how it turns out, at this moment anyone saying that M860TU is better than m15x is pure speculation as no one has used or tested the M860TU yet.
Good luck with your choice!

Well the speakers are not that bad. They sound exactly like the speakers found on the Nintendo DS.
The m15x will definitely give you performance but when it comes to durabilty sager wins it by far. If only m15x was made of metal and not plastic, the durability of the m15x would probably be equal or greater than sager. The m15x is still ok as long as you have a nice padded bag or put it into a nicely padded sleeve.
depending on the amount of time you can wait for a new laptop i would suggest waiting for the M860TU just to give you a comparison. -
I think people should look at the setups and such. I had problems on both sugar and alienware.
The M17X sounds a hell alot better then the Sugar and acer. LOUD and CLEAR. Where my last sugar and acer sounded low. -
Sugar? Not Sager?
A laptop's speakers are irrelevant from my point of view, as it's very difficult to create the best environment for a speaker inside a tiny case. -
Speakers arent laptops arent a big thing, if its no problem to you, try carrying some in-ear headphones.
-
I carry my headphones all around! i got bose on ear ones 175$ retail i think. They work pretty well and come with a case
But Sager notebooks i have no experience with neither with Alienware... yet..

I've used both the m15x (someone else's, not mine), and the Sager np5793 (which I own and love). Both are great computers. There is NO disputing the fact that the Sager runs significantly cooler than the m15x with the same CPU and GPU. The Sager is a 17" formfactor, and has a much more robust cooling system. I think that it remains to be seen whether or not the new 15" Sager (Clevo) model will be abe to handle the heat. There's still debate as to how many fans it will contain, and whether it will do better than the m15x at managing thermal issues.
Which you choose is up to you - there are advantages and disadvantages on both sides. The Sager has a better cooling system and higher-quality build (none of the m15x issues with cracking, creaking, wobbling, etc...) But the m15x has cool features (neat lights, touch-sensitve controls, Stealth Mode, etc...) as well as great options (like the integrated graphics option, and the use of a smart-bay which can accomodate an additional battery). The battery-life on the m15x beats the Sager hands-down. I can get a max of 2.5 hrs. battery on my 5793 (and the same is advertised for the upcoming 15" model, I believe). The m15x can get much more than that when running in stealth and integrated graphics, especially with a smartbay battery installed.
Choose wisely. The features and battery life may be worth it. But for me, the build-quality and heat management were more important (as well as other factors). -
