    Alienware X51 only has SATA 2 ports?

    I upgraded my friend's Alienware X51 yesterday to a Samsung 850 PRO 256GB SSD but the speeds we get in benchmarks are like 50% even after a clean install of Windows 7.

    I tried SATA Port 1 and 2 and 3 both give the same speeds so I told him that unfortunately, your computer only has SATA II ports.

    Can anyone confirm if this is true?

    If you have the X51 R1, then it would be possible that all of the SATA ports run at SATA II. The evidence does point to that.
    The R2 has 3 SATA III ports.

    They are SATA II on the R1 and SATA III on the R2.
